Sensitive Teeth after Treatment

I haven’t had this but just wanted to say that you can buy a mouth guard from the chemist. Maybe it is just to do with the cold virus. Hope it gets better soon.

Hi Dianne,

Sounds like you are having exactly the same prob I’m having with mine!

Neither my onc nor my dentist is worried about me having my tooth out while I’m on chemo (of course need to make sure the blood is ok). But will need to stop Zemota 6 weeks before if it needs to be taken out… of course I’d be worried about my bone mets if that’s the case. As Cathy said, no hesitate at the mo. Still no tooth ache yet, so will delay it as long as poss… and long may it last!

xx

Hi Jackwagstaff

If you have recently had a cold, it could be your in your sinuses that are full of mucous and placing pressure on the nerves of the teeth. If its just the top ones around the middle and back, this is most likely the case. Once the cold has gone, pain goes too. Try an decongestant like sudofed if your meds allow it.

Hi Everyone, Went to the dentist yesterday and she said the filling is ok and that I didn’t need to have it redone, so I just had a scrape and polish. She suggested I get some Corsodyl mouthwash and use it twice a day as apparently it stops infection setting in. I’ve bought some and will try it. (I’ll try anything!!!) Must say my teeth look a lot brighter as they seemed to be going discoloured from the treatment.

m1yu, she said she wouldn’t take out a tooth whilst I’m on chemo because the hole left behind wouldn’t heal up and she daren’t risk it, so check on that before they start extracting. I definitely wouldn’t stop the Zemota either (I’m on bondronat) but if it’s for your bone mets you need to take it. I totally agree with you - delay as long as poss and long may it last!!

Hope you are all feeling well today, lotsa love, Dianne x x x

Now that I’ve stopped epirubicin and now on cmf my teeth have stopped throbbing and don’t seem sensitive. Just watching out for sore gums from the cmf now.
