Sept 2025 chemo starters

Was actually just a consent call in the end - feeling more positive regardless which is good. Will be another 3-12 weeks until I know more.

You looked like you smashed today!! Well done!!! Hope the next few days are kind to you x

Thank you soo much @story1 yes they’re an awful company! I’ll definitely complain - in fact have set up a petition to name and shame:

Hi, I had my first chemo today. Within a few minutes of starting the Docetaxel I thought I was going to be sick, but it turned out to be a reaction to the drug. Thankfully I pressed the emergency button, and nurses came from all over. My blood pressure had rocketed and I’d gone bright red. I thought my head was going to explode. It was so scary.
The nurses stopped the Docetaxel and I was given a lot of piriton. After 30 minutes they tried again, but at half the speed. I didn’t have any further problems, so hopefully next time will be ok.

Oh my goodness that sounds so scary, I hope you’re feeling ok?

I’m feeling wiped out, but not bad otherwise.

Hi Caroline, that sounds scary, but glad you’re feeling not too bad now  Must be a big relief that you’ve got one under your belt. Hope you feel better after a good rest and it’s better than you thought :sparkling_heart: I was due to start tomorrow but I was delayed to next week, 30 Sep. I’m glad we have this thread to share experiences and feelings. Sometimes I go quiet when things aren’t going well but I’m feeling like I’m getting to know everyone and want to keep reading how everyone is x

I’ve wanted to stay fairly quiet on here, and have struggled to read much of the thread, as I’ve been worrying about today too much.

I hope things go well for you next week

Good morning Ailsa @molly.m , so pleased you had a fab weekend away and well done the girls team! Best of luck today, you will sail through I am certain. Unfortunately my chemo was cancelled, I got called in for a review with a Dr. They are very concerned with my liver reading, I started at 17 prior to first chemo, it is now 198! The infection last week, was also in the liver. My foot has settled down, I can walk on it now, my shoulder still gives me some trouble, but has improved a lot. I have to give more blood on Friday and just hope the liver has started to improve. I forgot to tell her about all the Ibuprofen I had been taking, for the foot as shoulder pain, so don’t know if that escalated things, but she thinks I had a massive reaction to the EC chemo and it looks like it will be reduced if the liver can heal itself. So all up in the air and very worrying. Will be thinking of you today. Jane x

Session 2 done for me, my daughter wanted to come so she can visualise where I am and who I’m with when she’s at uni, it took away a lot of the fear for her and the nurses were lovely, this is us afterwards xxx

@story1 Glad your next one has gone ok - great idea taking your daughter - it definitely helped my mum.

@bellbert that sounds rough - hope your liver starts to recover

@caroline_w_uk that does sound scary but glad they were straight on it

Sorry if TMI - My comedy symptom of the day is my pubic hair is falling out!!! Bye bye bush!

@story1 it was scary for a few minutes. I’m doing ok today. Really tired, but no sickness, which is great, as last time I had chemo I was sick after every session , and was hospitalised on at least one occasion. One of my daughters came with me for session last time. It really helped her. She since gone on to be a nurse.
@cridders I remember the pubic hair going last time round, and the strange angles the wee went :laughing: (probably TMI as well)

Hello Rachel @story1 , thank you, I am keeping everything crossed at the moment. That is a fabulous photo of you and your daughter, a fun memory to take to Uni.
Hello Kim @cridders , Thank you. As for your symptom of the day ( oh that made me laugh), I wanted to say I must be lazy as I was rather delighted with the same outcome, no more trimming for a while!!!
Hello @caroline_w_uk , how scary for you. I am so pleased the nurses sorted it so quickly. I think some hospitals automatically give anti histamines with certain chemo drugs, to minimise side effects.
Best of luck to everyone. Jane x

Afternoon /early evening aha well saying what today was its been a lovely day. All went well. My legs gone all orange skin in a nice big circle where I had my Her2 injection. Just got to keep an eye on it. Both chemos went in fine and so far so good. Feeling knackered now. Start my injections tomorrow.

@bellbert oh Jane Im sorry about that, blooming eck hope all is sorted for you soon and the infection clears up by the next bloods. Glad your foots getting better

@story1 lovely photo of you and your daughter  glad its put her mind at ease. How are you getting on.

@cridders aha one of the perks? Ha we spoke about that today. I shaved my legs knowing i was having the injection there and missed a patch on my knee. I said it will be nice not having to shave, and the nurse said its usually the place you want it to go the most that will be the last aha.

@caroline_w_uk glad your doing ok after yesterday.

Getting a little headache now. Think the adrenaline of the day has worn off. Glad to be sat and chilling now xxxx

Reporting in as starting chemo on Friday 26th Sept. I have ER + PR+ breast cancer, tumour is 74mm with nodes involved. Treatment plan is chemo, mastectomy and node clearance, radio, tamoxifen and CKD4/6 inhibitor.
Pre menopausal so I’m starting 4 x dose dense fortnightly EC, then 12x weekly Paclitaxel.
Had my PICC line put in today, got my health and financial power of attorney’s witnessed, packed my chemo bag and an emergency hospital bag.
I will cold cap but my hair is fine and perimenopausal thinning anyway and female baldness runs in the family so I’m not too hopeful…

@molly.m glad to hear your 1st session went well today. It’ll be interesting to hear how you fare a day ahead of me! Even though I know everyone reacts differently.

I hope everyone else is doing ok.

I had my PICC line inserted yesterday, a slightly uncomfortable hour but tolerable. I had an achy arm all afternoon and was very pleased to have my heart pillow from my chemo bag. I slept with it under my arm.

Started my steroids today. Have had a bit of a fuzzy head since 11:00 but I’m sure it’s a combination of steroids, anticipation and trying to get last bits finished at work today!

Chemo starts for me tomorrow, I’m not too worried about the procedures just the unknowns of how my body with react to everything! I’m giving cold cap a go. I’m usually ok with cold so :crossed_fingers:t2:I can tolerate it. I’m taking so much with me tomorrow as I don’t know how hot or cold I’ll be and what I’ll feel like doing to while away the hours.

It’s going to be a long day!
Phesgo injection
Pembrolizumab infusion
Docetaxel infusion
Carboplatin infusion
With cold cap and all the obs and fluids along the way!

A bit of a mixture because I am! TNBC in the lymph node tested, but HER2+ in my breast lump!

Sorry for the ramble, I really should get to bed. I want to be up early enough to give my dog a walk while I’m not hindered by chemo reactions! The boys, 20 & 16, are self sufficient.
