Sept 2025 chemo starters

Sorry @emsd2025 you don’t need this, the lack of communication is staggering. Your poor mum, everything crossed for her xxx

I’m making chicken soup in one pot with a whole chicken and there’s something so wholesome about it, it’s a kind of comfort smelling it cook xxx just thought I’d share that❤️

Oh I know it’s such a ballache. That sounds so painful! My back pain is back pretty sure it’s the Pembro. Yeah, we finally managed to speak to the head honcho yesterday but still no answer. It’s just truly awful but we move! Chicken soup sounds so lovely!

We’re travelling up again this weekend and then I have to go up on Thursday to help (my mum and dad run a cafe) and it’s a private Xmas function. Not ideal but what can you do

@buggeringon i think pals is a great shout - this is your data and your health and you have every right to access it!

Thinking about you, your mom and wider family and sending love. Hope you get authorative answers and a plan soon xx

I’ve worked out a general strategy of doing less than I feel able to, otherwise I keep getting knocked on my arse afterwards.

It’s really frustrating and for the first time in my life I’m starting to get a bit bored, because my options are limited- but I keep reminding myself that this will pass. Think I’d lose it if always like this.

I got a little watercolour set and a couple of books with shapes drawn and techniques and steps, with finished example for my birthday recently- just need to make space on my table (been a goal for two weeks ) and I’m hoping that will be a good diversion

This is a great idea, I know what you mean, my mind is going crazy trapped in my body and there’s only so many Christmas cooking shows I can watch

@emsd2025 do you take anything for the back pain or is it inflammation? Hope the journey isn’t too gruelling xxx make sure you take lots of breaks at the cafe if it’s possible, I’m learning I pay for it when I overdo it but how to know?

Just waiting for the chicken to cool so I can shred it in the stock, yum xx making the most of it in case I lose appetite/get mouth sores on EC xxx

You’re so right @story1 - it shouldn’t be too bad I hope going to prep as much as possible on Saturday and then fingers crossed it will be mainly plating. I think it’s inflammation, sometimes I take paracetamol but I don’t want to take too many things. I also find it hard to clear my throat too. Chicken soup sounds fab! I’m tempted to make. I made a monkfish curry today. Got my MRI scan on Monday too. Getting slightly stressed that I don’t know what the plan is after pacli :grimacing:

Top tip - pukka three ginger tea. Best flavoured ginger tea I’ve ever found.

Ginger is a really good anti inflammatory, as well as being good for nausea.

I use ginger tea often for inflammation and it’s the best thing I’ve ever found for dental pain - just bathing the tooth in strong tea beats paracetamol and brufen.

Might help with your aches and pains @emsd2025 and @story1

Ooh I’ll try that tonight @buggeringon, I’ve got some in the drawer that I couldn’t face opening, but definitely worth a try

Hi all - hope everyone is doing as well as they can be. I’m in for my first EC today - nervous but glad to be getting this next phase underway. They are starting me on a lower dose due to borderline haemoglobin.

I’ve got a tonne of ice pops… and the kids are placing bets on how many I’m going to get through!

First EC went fine (I managed 4 ice poles!!) crashed when I got home but think that was relief that it was done! Day 2 and feeling okish… first night was lots of getting up to wee, serious hot flushes etc. Nausea seems to have stayed at bay for now. Had a nap this morning and now just sat doing a puzzle with my little one.

Hope everyone is faring ok x

@emsd2025 will be thinking about you and your mum tomorrow! @anim4l how are you getting on? @cridders how are you doing after 2 days? Thinking of everyone booked in for treatment this week. I called the nurse about my ankle rash and she was pretty nonchalant “if it’s keytruda then we’ll put you on steroids” I’m a bit peeved. I won’t have anything on her say so after the last time she messed with my steroids and left me in agony. I’m not accepting any change to treatment unless I see the oncologist. Do cancer nurses have the authority to prescribe? I didn’t think so. I adore all the nurses at the centre apart from this one who seems in charge. How can she diagnose over the phone? Worried about tomorrow now because she’s a bit of a bully. I need to stand my ground. Not looking forward to it but the oncologist is there on Tuesdays so I’ll just say I want his opinion. Also got itchy spots on hands and arms too, anyone else had this?
