Sept 2025 chemo starters

Hello and good luck for tomorrow. I had my first EC chemo on 1st September. It is much easier, once you arrive and get settled in. I had to start my first injection on day 5 ( had chemo the Monday, so Friday was day 5) and I had to have them for 5 days, so had the last one today. Next chemo session will be the same, start them again on day 5 for 5 days. I used Emla numbing cream before the injection and I didn’t feel it. I also take Clarityn, anti histamine tablet ( as lots of people on this forum had recommended them, to reduce reactions and side effects - you may want to check with your team that you can take them) I also took an Ibuprofen, to reduce any pain and I have been fine on them, just a sore throat and indigestion around 18 hours after, when I think the Clarityn wears off. You will be given a big bag to take home, with all your anti sickness tablets and the injections ( the injections have to be stored in a fridge). I was given a spread sheet, with all the medications and timings on it, so you will probably get the same. Will be thinking of you tomorrow, but I am sure you will be fine

Yes, I’m on exactly the same regime. Like you, I was shocked by the length and it being weekly to start. I am nervous about starting on Thursday but trying to just let go of the need for control and ride whatever comes. I’m not getting port fitted until the 19th so will have two weeks in the hand.

Went shopping today for some tops that might be good for chemo but everything was so autumnal and I want to be bright and happy to try and bring the positive energy. Made up for the lack of clothes purchase by buying a ton of snacks!

I live in Bath

Hello. Thanks, I had a full day of just feeling rubbish really on monday. It is isnt it. Feels like we have to be positive because everyone around says how well were handeling it and how strong we are.

Im glad the injections are going well. Ill add the cream to my list  it is on thursday yeah. Its a proper up down week this of anticipation and realisation of it being real.

@story1 welcome over, just seen you have been given your start date. Thats brilliant, i feel so behind you all haha. I know how you feel. Mines 36mm and it feels and looks like its already grown since my mri. No name but I call it thing.

@cridders you look wonderful with your short hair and turban. Oh lovely I was wondering about doing that, just to see how the chemo effects me. Bit on the weary side because i only started my job in Feb and feel like Im putting a strain on them as we approach the busy season. (I realise that sounds silly because im not in control but my heads a funny place aha )

I didnt realise we could choose a port or the other. I thought it was decided for us.

Aha I was thinking about new earings, if anything to show a girly side to the bald head aha. And Im going to have to practice makeup.

@SMBW18 i hope all goes well tomorrow.
@mrsb6 hope your doing ok after your first EC.

And now to join the dog club aha my lovely little pup Marley, shes 8

Thank you @molly.m she’s so beautiful, she looks really gentle. I must think of a name for it. Prodded around again today and still so tender. Ordered a pregnancy cushion for bed and an eyebrow stamp kit. Gonna look like Fanny Craddock🤣

It is indeed a tit… I’ve been swinging it around by the nipple and my girls (7 and 11) played bat and ball with it earlier whilst shouting Bad Booby! It’s definitely been a source of fun!

The port fit was okay, I chose sedation for implant and glad I did. Quite sore for 48 hours, some bruising. Back driving at 72 hours - my choice. Chemo access at day 5 planned, will let you know how that goes. Chemo nurse says audit suggests day 3 is ok, but that would still be quite sore still……

Thank you

Sorry to hear you have been a bit down, not at all surprising, but you will bounce back up. I expect you will feel so much better after your meeting. Marley is gorgeous  We are so lucky to have these adorable creatures by our sides through this. I still have to crouch on the floor and play tug or go out into the garden to play ball, all day long ( joys/curses of working from home :)), so even when I really don’t feel like it, a look at those little furry faces appealing to me and off I go ball and furry toys in hand. Will think of you tomorrow, your team on here will all be with you. I know you feel you are behind us a bit with your start date, but the good thing is, you can see how everyone gets on and get all the good tips! Jane x

Pleased it went well

Start my first chemotherapy this morning. I’m on EC x 4 every 2 weeks and then Paclitaxel x 12 weekly.
I had a LICAP surgery on the 11th July and it has taken the full 8 weeks to be fully healed. I had a lot of leakage and extra stitches. But I am finally there and it feels so much better.
Just seeing your messages helps me to feel less alone. Thank you for sharing.
