September 2017 Chemo Starters

Well done Fairydust
Glad yours was ‘pleasant ish’. My first was manageable but tiring. Chemo 2 next Weds 27th.
I too was delayed but just chatted to anyone and everyone.xx

Chas n Dave, Fordie, Mrs Meow, SueW, Michelle, Jow, Whyefawn, and all our Super September ladies hang in there, we’ve got each other and our SuperCCs and we will do it!!!xxx

Hi Vee
Daughter got off to Uni alright and busy meeting new housemates. Missing each other like mad though but she will be home in a couple of weeks.xx

Thanks everyone for your comments. Anything we can do to be more comfortable the better! Will be glad to get treatment under way finally. The quicker it starts the quicker it finishes and we can all go back to our normal lives.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Cassie x

Hello Ali49, JoG83 is right, don’t let your mind take over, the waiting for treatment to start is so hard. This forum is full of lovely ladies, as you see and lots of support.

Vee78, so glad you said you can feel your tumour shrinking now, I so hope I can after the next round…tho I might not be sprinting!! Thank you for the Vitamin B12 reminder xx I also forget the PICC is there sometimes and then do something and think errr, perhaps not…!! Like Jacqui I think it’s the dressing that sort of pinches a bit sometimes, rather than it being the line itself but the nurse who comes to flush it is so kind and checks it over. It should be neatly tucked away too, not dangling!

Well I went out in the wig today, in an attempt to look less like Jeff, but the it’s quite full and I’m relatively tall…not certain I didn’t look like I was in drag!! Anyway apart from it sliding round a bit it was ok and the kids were happier (not sure what I’ve done for your mental image of me there, Jo, like your photo idea x)

Bloods being taken on weds, hoping they’ll be ok with the cold I’ve caught.

Sweet dreams everyone
Michelle/Jeff xxx

Hi guys,
Day 4 after round 2. So tired this time! Chest pains eased with gaviscon so definitely gastric reflux/heartburn related. I seem to have been awake for only a couple of hours a day. Can’t read or watch Tv - too tired! At least no diarrhoea this time round and nausea bearable on new meds. Need to go back to bed now. Slightly dizzy and face feels numb. Good luck this weeks round 2’s and new starters. There are a few good lists in the first few pages of this thread if you scroll right back - 101 things you need to be prepared for chemo!
Night night, cx

Hi Cathysid
Hope you managed to rest. I’m resting too. What’s remaining of hair is coming out now. I’m not pulling it out but shaking it out. Not too upset, just feels weird as time I look in the mirror I see more bald patched and my hair is dark!
I hope a bare head looks as good on me as you!

I’m preparing for Chemo 2 on Weds! All the best to chemo this week. Lots of love.xxx

I went to had blood test this morning and see the oncologist. She checked my lump and definetely shrunk by 1cm, which I’m happy about. Went home, did my daily routine, and had a phone call 10 mins ago from my onc said that she found the liver is slightly abnormal, she think it’s the effect of the chemo… so she requested a scan for me, meanwhile she happy for me to go ahead with my 3rd chemo this Thursday… it’s so frustrating to hear these things… really not clear what to expect ?

I hope everybody have a good rest ready for the next round:heart::heart:

Ck - I’m sure you will rock the bare headed look! X

So it’s round 2 for me tomorrow. Definitely feeling apprehensive about it. Spent the evening using my last bursts of energy tidying the house and cooking meals to freeze for later in the week!
Cathysid- good to know the nausea is better this time, hopefully the fatigue will pass soon for you
Vee78- good news on the shrinkage, and its good that they have found any abnormalities sooner rather than later, a mixed bag for you today though.
Ck- I’m sure that there will be a few of us rocking the bald look soon! It seems like all I have to do at the moment is turn my head and a shower of hair falls. The bit that’s bugging me most about it is the feeling of hair in my mouth!
Hope all goes well with all your next steps this week ladies
Xxx

Good luck tomorrow Fordie. Hope it goes smoothly and quickly xx

All the best for tomorrow Fordie! My annoying thing is hair on my phone screen and so show one got into my ear which was strange. Not had one in my mouth yet but the shower room floor needs brushing everyday.x

Vee
Very frustrating but at least can carry on treatment and one day at a time. Great that lump has shrunk though. Fab news and us ladies learn to deal with it when thrown at us. We will do it.!!!x

Ali, it’s us on Weds! We will send positive vibes to each other.xx

Hope today goes smoothly, Fordie, and that your lucky on side effect bingo!

Vee - amazing news that your lump has shrunk! Try not to worry about the liver - they like to keep a close eye on you! I had a liver check after an odd blood result a few weeks ago - turned out to be nothing to worry about.

I’ve definitely felt slightly better this time with side effects, than last, so maybe we get used to the chemo a bit and it’s not so bad as time goes on…here’s hoping!

Xxx

Ps Michelle/Jeff - I feel like a drag queen in my wig, too! Ha ha. Feel more comfortable as GI Jane!

Cathysid
I’m glad you are feeling better and number 2 easier!
Last night I went out and my with fastener came undone. The wig started to move a bit. Luckily wasn’t in the wind. It could have blown off???

Fordie i hope today went ok. CK good luck for tomorrow. I am in at 10am. Will be thinking of you xx

Good luck tomorrow for your second chemo CK. Ali remember your big girl pants and good luck. Still another day for me until first chemo on Thursday.

Thanks Cassie. Hope you’re ok xx

Thank you ladies! Had Bllods and then Reiki and reflexology today to relax! Feel quite calm at the moment! Cousin came to cook dinner and taken my mum out so having a chillax!

All the best to all of us chemo ladies this week!
Remember to talk to the drugs, tell them they are your allie and ask them to go easy on you!
Lots of water b4 and after and a bottle in your handbag. Mints, fruit drops and snacks too!

Here’s to manageable chemo treatment for us all!

Lots of love.xxx???

Good luck for ladies having chemo today…

Cassie, our chemo day tomorrow. Good luck for your first one, its not that bad, just remember to take the drugs ontime after. Are you having cold cap ? if you do… bring blanket and cardigan as can make your body really cold, I have to have 3 layers of blanket while my husband only in short sleeve tshirt. Tea/coffee in the flask is useful too.

Thanks Cathysid and all, yes I hope my liver just have a bit of niggle and mend itself. As I really don’t feel anything.

Roll on my 3rd chemo…

Xx

Hi Sue, yes I’m flitting between Sept and oct forums at the moment. Haven’t decided which I’m staying it yet. Lol

Hi Vee good luck for your third tomorrow. I’m getting nervous about tomorrow now but everyone does tell me it’s not as bad as I fear. Distracting myself with work at the moment finishing things off before tomorrow.
