Right ok ladies I am officially hungry now and my stomach is grumbling with the mention of all this lovely food. I peel my potatoes but kepp them whole, I usually put them in when I turn the cooker down to low and then when finished I cut them up it seems to work.
I have a spare room ck ?x although when I say to my daughter the spare room she says no it’s my room x she moved out 4 years ago lol but still insists it’s her bedroom x
Haha, same as my daughter! She panicked when she went to uni as she thought that its rhe start of moving out!!!
Bty, how is she gwtting on with the IBF?xx
She has got cysts on her ovaries so that needs to be sorted first to make sure she is well before she can move on so bit of awaiting game at the moment x
Can’t find it so here goes
Fat fir frying I use coconut oil
1kg pork shoulder cut into chunks
2 large onions
2 garlic cloves crushed
1 red chilii chopped optional
2 tablespoons sweet smoked paprika
2 tablespoons hot smoked paprika
1tsp caraway seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
400g tin tomatoes
400ml chicken stock
2 tablespoons tomato purée
Fry off the pork and take out if pan
Add onions to pan and fry for about 10 minutes adding a bit of water if they start to stick then add garlic and chilli fry for a minute add all other spices season add tomatoes stock seasoning and tomato purée bring to simmer and cook on low heat 140 in an oven for 2 hours or as long as 8 hours on low in your slow cooker
If you are using a normal recipe in a slow cooker slightly reduce the amount of liquid that you use because it doesn’t evaporate like it does in the oven.
This goulash is dead easy to throw together and tasted amazing you can also add other veg or beans to pad it out and make it go further.
So true Shi! Its not easy for rhe younger generation to afford rheir own place unless they get a realky good job. Ive told mine to save as much as she can as she will appreciate it in the future! Luckily she’s not one for overspending and has saved when some of her uni mates spend up their own very soon going out every weekend and fast food! She cooks from scratch which saves her a lot of money too and doesnt drink. X
Thanks chaffinch
Jen enjoy the time with your dad
Shi you are right my daughter moved out at 19 when she thought she knew it all back within 6 months lol she is married now and buying her own house though so I do insist it’s my spare room lol
Ck my daughter went to a local uni because she didn’t want to end up with huge debts
my son doing his photography degree local too
Perhaps I made them too comfortable ha ha x
My 3 are 13, 12 and 12. Our house is a 3 story victorian with big rooms and lots of space so i have told them they can have a floor each and me and the hubby are getting a bungalow!! Great solution I think!
A few years yet though, the lovely teenage years to enjoy.
Slimming world do a gorgeous BBQ pulled pork recipe for the slow cooker too. It comes up if you search for it.
Ali

Its gone cold tonight in Stckport. How is it in otjer parts of UK?xx
I preferred the teenage years, teenagers get a really bad press but they look at the world with fresh eyes and can really make you think. I always kept talking to mine and tried to be around when they got in from school as much as I could be because that was often a good time for a chat before their doors closed and the chaos of the evening started.
My YD was quite a challenge until she was about 10 then she blossomed. I had been dreading her teenage years but I need not have worried.
Not sure where this little pro teenager speech came from, blame insomnia lol ?
Ive been enjoying all this talk of food. Is everyone a lot more hungry do you reckon it is it more because we are trying to work out what we fancy eating? I’m usually a very keen cook but have done very little since my mastectomy on 1 Aug. Partly because people bring us so many meals, and partly because I’m not sure what I want to eat due to nausea, and I don’t really have the energy or inclination . Last night though I made chicken with fennel and tarragon in a creamy mustard sauce with wilted spinach so perhaps I’m coping a bit better.
I have gone into masssive decluttering mode during this chemo so as soon as my oldest went back to uni, I got rid of a lot of junk and scrubbed the room. She is back this weekend to sort out the remaining boxed junk. Hope she doesn’t feel like we are kicking her out- not really what she needs at this bizarre phase of our lives. I just have this real desire for order and a beautiful home(always did but much more apparent now, or maybe I have more time) . Not easy with 2 younger boys too.
Yes CK it has got chilly down south here in Bristol too. I’ve been having hot flushes and yet can’t live without my hot water bottle.
Im still waking up very early (around 4am) despite being off steroids and clocks changing have not helped. Kids up at 4.30 am too. No stars for them today…
I am doing ok CK and hopefully into a good week before chemo! My next is 8th Nov. Same as you but m8ne is number 3 and yours is 4 if i’m right?
Chaffinch one of the silver lines to this journey is thst i love being here every morning and every afternoon when my 3 are going out to and coming in from school! I am usually at work so miss that. Its great that i can take them and pick them up too if they dont fancy the 10 minute walk - but its usually only my daughter!
Over the weekend my breast and underarm have beein a bit painful! Has anyone else had this during chemo’s.
It is cold here this morn8ng but blue sky and gorgeous. I love days like this xx
Hi Ali49 - I’m number 4 on 8th too - and am changing to D so it feels like this might be the last week of normality for quite some time! My biggest problem on chemo has been sore underarm and pain on the surgery sites- after finally seeing the onc last week there is nothing much to help this - they have suggested ibuprofen cream. It is really painful and bruised and my surgery was 3 months ago - apparently the chemo does make it more inflamed so I try to reassure myself that it is the nasties just doing their job - is really very painful and curtails driving and I even have an automatic car! I was trying to pick up leaves in the garden yesterday- would have been comical if anyone watching as I was the most inefficient gardener on earth!
Loving the food chat though ladies - I have been really lucky and pretty much enjoyed food throughout and done lots of cooking on the good week - currently making batch food to take to our next chemo-moon on thurs going to a cottage by the sea
Happy Monday everyone sending love to those having procedures today xxx
I had notice pain in my Breast and didn’t know if it was just wishful thinking that it was a sign of the chemo doing it’s cleaning job. I couldn’t get comfy in bed last night because of it. My surgery was 2.5 months ago so I thought it was sorted.
I too have gone into clear and clean mode, well I had until I had to work for a week then had second chemo last week. My house is filthy. Hubby has been great with the cooking and vacuuming but the finer points of cleaning are not really his thing. We have no water here this morning so all the bed changing and bathroom and kitchen cleaning I had planned have ground to a halt unfortunately!
Have a lovely chemo moon by the sea MrsMeow ?
