Ali, did you have pain like this the first round? The nurses said it’s a sign bone marrow kicking in when I was in hospital, so could be a good sign this round for you. Started my life Mel honey today so hopefully that’ll help this round for me as well as you. ??

Yes Ck I am. Doc gave me co codamol today. It happened the first time too Shi. It was the pain that took me into hospital. It has eased a bit tonight so please God it will be gone tomorrow. Maybe with all my kiwis, coconut water and life mel honey i didnt need as much as a boost. Shi remember to put your honey on your tongue and suck it slowly. I have just ordered my 2nd jar

Thanks ali, I have done as you said one 1st thing on empty stomach and 1 for last thing at night. I had 5 days of injections and didn’t get any pains which was why me neutraphils were so slow in coming back which ended up with the 6 days in hospital, what a 1st round eh!!! Hope for better with round 2 for both of us. ??shi xx

Thanks for all the support and inspiration as always. For those of you struggling with injections, I wonder whether it’s worth asking if you can get Neulasta instead as it’s only one injection. I’ve been on this since the beginning as I’m being treated privately (BUPA through work has massively paid off) and I just have one injection 24 hours after chemo which I do myself. I’ve read that this is available on the NHS in some areas, but probably not widely prescribed due to costs as it’s around £900 for the one injection. But if you’re really struggling maybe it is an option worth asking for? I really sympathise with daily injections as I also have to inject myself with anti-coagulants every day for six months thanks to the blood clot in my chest on my first round. I’m starting to get very fed up of those injections and the related bruising and skin hardening - I’ve got to the point now where sometimes I have to really force the needle in ?. So it’s good for me that I only have the one additional injection after chemo. Worth a shot (literally!)?

Another recommendation for shin of beef from me too. I love it and it can go in stews curries or chilli. It cooks down so soft.
Hubby made a steak and kidney pie with some tonight I didn’t fancy it but managed it ok in the end. I’m so glad he can cook because I just can’t face it and have no energy to do anything.

Schwartz do some lovely slow cooker sachets I love the pulled pork one just make sure if the pork joint has skin on you remove it or it is a little bit fatty x

The only meat I don’t like in there is mince because of the fat that comes out in cooking but if I buy 5% fat mince that problem is eradicated and you can use it in there. Xx

Yes like Sue says, pork shoulder works well slow cooked. I use pork shoulder steaks quite a bit because they are often in 3 for £10 at our local Morrisons. There is a great goulash recipe in the Bake off Winter Kitchen book.

Very easy if you buy bags of frozen veg to throw in use oxo for flavouring throw in a few herbs and spices and in 20 ish minutes Home made soup xx

Ck the Schwartz mix for pulled pork is lovely and when it’s cooked it falls apart and instructions are on back of the packet lol xx easy least x

Last time I went Morrisons rhey had offer on those Schwarz sachets and I got Chilli Con Carne, Bolognese and Mince Beef!

They also do a slow cooker chicken curry and I think a beef and ale stew x
But I do use the normal sachets to in my slow cooker x
Also sometimes I just throw in diced lamb carrot swede parsnips use lamb oxos mixed herbs and switch it on . I don’t like to put potatoes in there but that’s just personal preference and I know some people do xx
Potatoes tend to break but could always add in later after cooking if needed! I like fried potatoes, like roasties! Yummy!!!xx
