September 2017 Chemo Starters

Oopsee Fairydust! Sure you won’t be the first or last to forget
I find not being at work means calendar things all go to pot - luckily have got an excuse but will have to get organised once through treatment haha
Hope nobody tells my OH he could get food in other parts of th country - def don’t feed relatives in my unit - but it means he can go off the ward when I am cannulated as he hates that bit
Comfy evening every one - am toiling here day 7 dozytax - sore sleepless and hot - will ring team later if temp doesn’t go down and hoping for a better day tomorrow take care all x

Hi,
Keep an eye on your temperature Mrs.m - over 37.5c warrants a phone call to your unit. Hope it settles.
Love he idea of different wigs for different occasions! Don’t know if I could pull off a tinsel wig but might look for a fun new Xmas look
Fairydust - the vitamins in the bio strath will help you from when you start taking it onwards. It certainly gave me more energy after about a week.
Hope side effects are calming down, and today’s chemo ladies went ok. Did yours go ahead chaffinch?
Xxx

Fairydust, you naughty girl? Whats the point in buying a diary and not using it??:0
Day 7 of T and aches and pains seem to be less today. I managed to go on my course and had reflexology and Mindfulness. We also had a chat on ‘self talk’ Ive found myself talking to myself a lot lately, usually telling myself to pull myself together!!!Had a meltdown last night as frustrated I havent been able to do much this week, but started tslking to myself and felt better aftetwards! I wven started to dance to Enola Gay when it came on TV whilst putting cteam on after my soak! Think Im going mad! Today we learnt that we need to tell ourselves good things and how well we are doing and not to be hard on ourselves!! Ill try!

Appetite not as meaty this cycle, more salads and tomato and cheese so paid a visit to Lidl and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was.

This fatigue has stopped me committing to anything, take it day by day. Temp has been hjgh twice over 38 but seemed to go down very quickly too. Thermometer right hy me! Tight chest like first EC but do some breathing exercises.

Just wondering whether this first cycle of T is worse because its the first one and next ones will be easier or will they get worse! Its mainly aches and pains but with the GCSF injections it does wash you out.

Anyway, talking about pains. Im now going to run my bath. Had one every night since T:0

Hope the aches and pains go soon CK. I am not looking forward to the PTH at all!

I am day7 today and have had a couple of rough days. Same as usual but you forget how lousy you felt last time. I am going to talk nicely to myself now though!!

Goodnight God bless hope everyone gets a decent sleep xx

Ck - for me the thp has got slightly better each time, less side effects with each dose but a bit more tired each time. Glad you’ve found it bearable. From day 8 things should be looking up! X

Ali - hope you feel a bit better today. We are doing so well. It is lousy each time but I’m sure you’ll turn the corner soon xxx

Thanks Cathysid. Definitely better this morning and jad a good nights sleep!! I hope you are doing ok too.

I have found all the advice given on here really helps me get through. I would never have known about epsom salt baths forxeasing aches and pains if i hadnt been on the forum.

I eas chatying to My SIL yesterday about different things and coping with chemo and she said she never knew about all the different things fuch as injections, temps etc etc. I said NEITHER DID I!!!

Hope everyone has a good or better day xxx

Jo really hope it is a better day for you today.

Is this your first T? Not looking forward to mine next time xx

Jow

I think I swore rhe other day and it came up bleep bleep? Good luck with the Picc and have a goid catch up with your friend.

Day 8 for me too, although I needed paracemol again b4 bed I had a good nights sleep.
Will be going into work later all being well. I feel this week Ive been in quarantine but not a bad thing I suppose! Went to Cancer centre yesterday and Lidle and work last Saturday for 4 hours otherwise, at home. I can get rid of a split in the corner of my mouth. It gets better but then when I eat its splits again! Grrr!!! Horrible taste in mouth still there and slightly sensitive throat. Cheese, tomatoes, advocados and smoked salmon at the moment.xx

Ali
T hasnt been too bad, but just be prepared for aches and pains with Paracetomol and Ibroprofen and kerp an eye on temo! Its only day 8 so I could still have SE but no point in looking out for them. A bath every night is something I really looked to with my mate Epsom!!!

Thanks Cathysid for the reassurance. Thats what I’m hoping, that its easier each time. Fatigue I can handle! Glad you seem more positive too! I like your diet too altjpugh at tbe moment its tomatoes, cheese, salmon and advocados which juices in between.xx

Fairydust
Did you manage to get another appointment soon?xxx

Morning! So grateful for this forum giving me hope that T (D) will improve from now … well done everyone dealing with all the meany SEs. I actually managed 4 hours sleep in one go! First time for a week was starting to wonder if I would ever sleep again haha. Still sore joints but not any worse and managed to keep mouth from breaking down completely with just Difflam no Nystan.
So maybe today will be turning corner day - hope all other day 8 ladies are same
I got my huge telly!!! It is so big and so funny to see at the end of the bed - is the size of the king size bed but Christmas movies will be fun! Can’t wait to tell my team have goggly eyes this round as a SE then tell them why!
Have a good day all -going stir crazy here and can’t afford a chemo-moon this cycle cos telly but still planning a snowy December break to dream of… x

Mrs Meow
Enjoy your big TV!!! Ive always had a 42inch on top of my cupboard at the bottom of my bed as it would hurt my beck and shoulders if mounted on the wall!
I am watching so much crap TV but it keeps me going. Four in a bed at the moment!!!

Fairydust
Ive been think of doing this and doing that to my house as soending so much time in it but rhe rhoufht of moving stuff and the dust it will incurr makes me change my mind. Aw well, as long as its clean. Your team will give you a good back up plan and finfers crossed for Friday.xx

Fairy dust neutraphils 4.29, so Life Mel Honey and steak a day highly recommended it looks like it’s done the trick for me this time, but I did have a dose reduction with the 2nd fec after the 1st one floored me. ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Fairydust, less of that talk!!!xxx
GO GET A CAT!!! My friends have 7 cats and are always having kittens. Would it be too far to come to Stockport?xx

Fairydust.
You just need to see a cat and whether you connect or not. We had ours from 18 month old and he was quite naughty at my friends daughters as she let him gey away wirh anytjing jumping all over everywhere hut she had to move and wanted us to take him in. He was great comfort for my daughter doing her exams and now for me! I feel cats are very deep and understand us and so easy to look after. It is good to get a cat from rescue but most of the time they can be traumatised and more difficult for us to look after when we are going through this. Kittens though can be mischievous and just need to watch you dont get scrstched when playing with them. Kittens are so cute and it would be lovely to see it grow into an adult !!! Stockport only 25 mins away. Ill see if any kittens left. They could drop off to him but not sure if rheyve all gone. Ill see.xx

I’m writing in this 1 as there seems to be more activity then the November 1 lol…sorry not been on for a while hope ur all doing ok…
I’m having my 3rd chemo tomorrow carboplatin and docetaxel and hormone therapy treatment,I’m using cold cap and lost about 20% of my hair underneath the 2nd cycle…

I think the cold cap wasn’t for proper this time tho as I said when I left the hospital that day…

Any having same treatment using cold cap please let me know how your hair has been thanks sam x

Hi Sam
Good luck for tomorrow. I didnt have cold cap so leave it to the other ladies. Im on cycle 4 day 8 and first Docetaxol. Feelng ok today with the help of paracetomol and my mate Epsom!
Dont worry about where you post, we all flit from thread to thread. Sometimes I dont post and just read. Some ladies on Oct thread have me in stitches! I was on the downer a few nights ago and it cheered me up but the thread moves so quickly, you just leave it for a bit and theres so much to read:D We all do things differently and dont judge as we are on the same journey! Ive only heard one kady complaining about someone so I told her to tell the admins.xx

Cathysid im also having TCHP 3rd cycle tomorrow!

Thanks every1 I’ve been doing ok last cycle more tires but no bad side affects like the 1st cycle…least I’m halfway tomorrow x

How you doing with your TCHP? Message me if you like x

Day 8 for me CK and have felt much better. Bit of an iffy tummy bit thats normal for me at this stage!!

My friend says the runny nose is because the nose hairs have gone!! The joys hey!!

I get mixed up with the threads but all are great and provide so much support and encouragement. We are here for ourselves but also for each other. Thank you everyone xxx

My funny dream last night was someone from work coming to mone for my Christmas night out money. When i said i couldnt come thos year she said tough, you’ve still got to pay because you put your name down!! Good times ???

Cathysid! Its sooooo good to hear you feel fantastic!! First time Ive heard that on here. Lets hope you lead the way for us to feel fantastic too!

To me to feel good is just not to feel rubbish!

Yes we are two thirds there now with chemo. Welk done to all of us.

Ive been to work and lasted for 7 hours :

Still soaking in the bath though:)
