September 2017 Chemo Starters

Jow - have you seen the picc line covers on livebetterwith.com. They have been recommended by ladies with picc lines for day cover and they do a waterproof one too.

Mrs.M - hope the mouth improves. Worth starting some anti fungal meds’ early on if it is thrush as it can get quite yucky.

I’ve had a good day out- feeling so much better now!

Ck - hope Merlot doesn’t slip into he bath tub whilst trying to figure out where you’ve got too! Hope the aches ease up.

Thinking of you all,
Cx

I miss my old cat, she used to sit by the bath looking puzzled and occasionally put her paws on the side and looked at me thinking I was mad ?
Hope you all have a better SE free night xx

Hi ladies, I’m the bath again after 4 hours at work. I drove too but its only 10 minutes away. I just love these soaks! Merlot out gallavanting. Similar aches and pains at the moment. Cant wait to eat my chocolate eclair and cream cone which is staring at me instead of Merlot. My cousin does spoil me. Mouth very dry today and drinking lots but some sweets taste bitter now. Mints are better at the moment. Hope you are ok ladies.xx

Hope your aches and pains ease CK. Sounds like youve had a busy day!

Mrs Meow dont do that baking!! I read that we have to avoid as much frction as possible to our hands and feet as it cannincrease the drugs going to the capilliaries in the pslms of the hands and soukd of the feet. My hands seem a bit better but my feet are roasting!!

Mrs Meow you can buy Daktarin oral gel over the counter to deal with the thrush. My doc says rub it over your gums then put a blob on your tongue and swish it around. It really helps!

Goid night God bless ladies xxx

Oops Ali too late for the baking - I hadn’t heard that re hands and feet and my team know they have been hurting for weeks! Was proud of my rugby watching huge pizza I made today but maybe my dough kneading days are over for a while - Ido find I have to watch taking things out of the freezer and oven etc so as not to hurt my fingers - but love my baking and my aga maybe I will just have to pace myself !
Hope you ladies are having a good night- am sleepless as can’t get comfy with the dozy pains but will get there … x

Mrs Meow go onto breastcancer.org and look up Hand Foot syndrome. It tells you how to deal with it and what to avoid. Cutting with a knife is one thing.

Hope yours improvez. Xx

Clear skies here in Birmingham x
Jo I got Hickman line in my chest and told it cannot be immersed in bath bit of a pain as can only fill bath to waist height but that’s better than not having a bath at all x

Lovely day here too, though rather cold. Had a lovely walk up on the moors with the kids and dogs today. Glad to be finally out of the chemo fog.
Hoping all of you are coping ok,
Cx

Hi ladies, Ive stayed in all today but had windows open for fresh air whilst watching rememberence Sunday. I love that kind of thing. Its quite emotional. I never met any of my grand parents, they all died during the war. My customer bought me a genuine ceramic poppy to auction off for charity.
Day 5 of the T now and pretty much similar aches and pains all over my body(nite in rhe naci and legs), plus the GCSF injection pains and a bad pain in my head. Loud noises really go through me! Paracetomol sorted it for a while so will take b4 bed. Temp went up to 37.8 in the afternoon but went down again! Thermometer is right by me!!! Dont seem to have as big an appetite with the T but snacking a lot!
Im just wondering if the remaining of my hair and ny eyelashes will come out as someone said, theirs started to grow back on T! Wishful thinking. I reckon at least after all chemos and will take a while to grow my length.
I am also scratching more easily, so treatment must make skin thinner and more sensitve.

Someone came round b4 and couldnt believe how cold it was when I opened the door. I suppose it makes it easier having to stay in. Wrap up warm ladies.xxx

Day 5 here too CK - T is not my friend! Finally had a few hours sleep -first since Tuesday as decided to take ibuprofen before bed - still wide awake now and feel like got someone else’s legs on backwards. Can’t decide if is more sore lying in bed compared with getting up but house way too cold to put that to test! Will be on own all day as OH on early and the ‘children’ staying in a hotel after being in a club in the city - so weird to think of normal life going on outside… I used to get up at this time to fly to work every couple of weeks and haven’t now been in an airport for 5 months- and since have lost my job won’t do so again- the new normal is freaking me out but suppose just have to climb this mountain first till can work out what comes next- and hope can keep roof over head…,
Hope the sleep fairies visiting you all nicely and keeping the SE at bay for a while - here’s to a week of hugs and love to all xx

So kind of you to send hugs Fairydust hope you and all September ladies are having a good enough day - is anyone having bloods or treatment today? Chaffinch is it you tomorrow?
Can you believe is snowing out of my window!!! X

Where are you Mrs Meow?

No snow in Liverpool but it is freezing!@

What is Biostrath please? Xx

Mrs meow are you in the highlands? With you having the snow today? ???:snowflake::snowflake::snowflake:??:snowflake::snowflake::snowflake: How pretty like dusting of icing sugar over everything???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Bloods today for me, telephone appointment with chemo nurse instead of oncologist tomorrow and chemo 3 for me on Wednesday. Hope you get some sleep tonight MrsMeow, I believe that things start to improve day 6 or so with T. I hope so for your sake.

Bio strath has had studies done on chemo and radiotherapy patients. You can read about it here:
flaxfarm.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/4-page_Bio-Strath_chemo.pdf

My local health food shop recommended it.
Hope you are all doing ok, xxx

Fairydust, I blamed you when my tinsel wigs turned up from amazon ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Good luck chemo ladies tomorrow and Wednesday - keep cosy through the whole thing. Xx
Snow didn’t stay at all but I do love it when it comes and trying to persuade OH that December chemo-moon should be further north in the romantic snow but apparently he feels I should be sensible and be near a hospital and good roads etc - he is no fun.
I made him laugh today as my friend is selling a huge TV and I have decided to have it at the foot of my bed as a treat over chemo-Christmas - am not usually a TV in the bedroom person but am so hacked off being made redundant have decided to have a treat- will be like having a home cinema so OH laughing at me getting a huge plasma screen when am unemployed and thinks am going to be on Jeremy kyle next haha.

???fairy dust treat yourself to some you’ll love them, nice and :sparkles::sparkles::sparkles::sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:love and sparkles ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Hello ladies! I’m back from chemo 3 and chilling on the sofa with my water. Went ok and even got my chicken chasseur followed by jam sponge and custard for lunch same as chemo 1 (OH even got some for lunch too). Have worked out that I need to make sure I’m still there at 12:30 as that’s when they bring the lunch round last time I finished at 12:15 so too early.

Fairydust, I think it’s worth trying these things and working out what’s right for you. There’s no point putting yourself through things if it’s making it more difficult for you, you’re fighting this bc the same as all of us and we’re all trying things and working out what’s best for each of us. So carry on as you are and get yourself a tinsel wig like Shi, I don’t think there are any horrible tastes that go with that plus it’s instant no waiting 2 months for it to make you feel better! ?

Fairy dust, ali and I have gone onto Life Mel Honey, Ali’s bloods ok and I will know tomorrow if it’s worked for me too, I’ve also had a steak a day this round too to try and keep neutraphils up. I’ll let you know tomorrow. Get the wigs they do make me smile ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx
