September 2024 chemo starters

I’ve now put 7kg on! Arrrggghhh!!!

@sharlou
I am being weighed every week before treatment and every week i have put weight on! I even asked if that meant I needed more drugs in my infusion?!! They were very kind saying they would rather i gained than lost during chemo! I am firmly in the camp of giving myself a break. I will worry about the size of me next year!!! Solidarity!

That’s what they keep saying to me, that they’d rather I put weight on than lose it! Came home and ate cheesecake in a huff :eyes:

My chemo nurse said this week after I pointed out I’d put on weight since my last weigh in “that’s good, we like that!”
I gave her such a side eye :laughing:

Well that’s the pegfilgrastim in. And now for three days of misery :roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

Ha! Exact same thing happened to me this week.

My bargain treadmill arrived today … hope to at least retain some fitness (if not shape) by walking daily even when the weather outside is vile. I totally appreciate that part of recovery is horizontal on the sofa though!

Fingers crossed for you.

@sharlou got to do mine later . Not looking forward to it already in so much bone pain from docetaxel the other day :smiling_face_with_tear:

Yeah it’s a double whammy isn’t it. I’m on pac which seems to be kinder than doc, but the joint and bone pain has been much more severe than the EC-filgrastim combo :grimacing:

How long do you wear these for if you don’t mind me asking? I used them for the day and day after my Docetaxel round but I’ve had terrible hands and feet, especially my feet. They were so bad I couldn’t walk on them. My hands have been less problematic. This neuropathy didnt kick in until probably day 5 and by day 7 I was in bed all day. So any advice much welcome.

@nicnac17 I only wore them during the chemo session. I havent had any peripheral neuropathy as yet but i have had sore hands and feet. On first session of docetaxel, i did wear the socks for a day after too, but i forgot this cycle. I expect they will reduce your dose if you report it to onco. X

I put them on 15 mins before the infusion, wore throughout and removed 15 mins after. I’m currently on paclitaxel- not sure if it makes a difference which type.

7 days on from first docetaxel. I’m managing the bone pain with strong pain killers and Epsom salt baths but now got a really crampy stomach. No upset stomach yet but this is really getting me down - is this normal a week after? EC was so much easier than this

I was the same. Then had random raging diarrhea late in 2nd week all through the night.

Talking nails. The little ridge at the top of my nail ( it is in all nails at same point ) I think is reaction to my first EC. Its almost grown out now. The red ring around the cuticle semi circle i think is from first Docetaxel. Has anyone had similar

@luckyduck1 I’ve got the same semi circles but noticed when I was in EC ?

Was in awful bone pain last night in legs . Took temperature as wanted to take paracetamol and ibroprohen and it was 38.5!
I gave it an hour as I felt fine apart from
Bone pain and it came down abit . This happened to @bluesatsuma about the same time didn’t it ? 7 days after docetaxel ? Evil stuff .
Gonna call helpline when I can get up - this bone pain and stomach cramps are unreal.

Quite a few of us got a ridge in nail each treatment, it does grow out but any concerns do check with your team too :heart::two_hearts::two_hearts::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

@epic1 yes it did happen to me. They reduced dose and gave me codeine. It was much less painful after 2nd docetaxel.

I hope you can get some pain relief. Its nasty stuff and it certainly has more dide effects than EC. However, the reduction in dose really improved things x

@bluesatsuma
In a&e. Getting bloods done and I’ve antibiotics in case. It’s awful. So busy. I’m in a cubicle.m but feel very at risk. Been here 6 hours so far.
