I find the same, Jill - how can you say how you’ll feel in two weeks’ time when you don’t know how you’ll feel in an hour? My main worry is that I have to lie on the sofa after every activity - even after drying my hair. Can’t really do that at work!
When are you considering going back?
I’m going back on the 5th Oct slow return for two weeks. If I struggle going to go off with depression but feel it’s time to get some normality back. I may not think of cancer as much if I’m busy. Sick to death of it dominating my thoughts, it’s exhausting! X glad you’re healing Jill x
Current sick certificate is till 5 Oct. I might need another week as I don’t see occ health till 6 Oct. sick pay goes down to half on 27 Oct so have to go back before that.
Looks like we will all be dragging ourselves back to work at around the same time ,just noticed that the new hair the doc pointed out was growing is pure white!!!
The white hair must have cheered you up no end, Jill! Talked to hairdresser re stripping out my hair dye and going grey - he said it wouldn’t look v nice and I’d need to put an ash dye over it anyway!
All good fun eh???Bald spots and white patches are the way to go !!!Read on American website that the hair loss from Tamoxifen slows down after a year, not sure I will have much left by then.Have you tried the latest tablets yet Marcella?
No, I haven’t even got the prescription filled yet, Jill. Can’t bear to risk going through it all again.
I’m not surprised you can’t face it,I’ve come to hate putting those tablets in my mouth.
I’m still on the narrow boat somewhere in the midlands. Thought I was thinking less about cancer when I picked up this months Prima magazine and there is a whole section on BC . What really freaked me out was that it said if you have hormone receptive cancer - which I think most of us on this thread have - more than 2 alcoholic drinks a week can increase the chance of reoccurrence by 15% - never heard that before. Flipping heck. Why bother with the drugs if stopping drinking makes such a difference? Has anyone else heard of or read this? I see my oncologist next week I’m definately going to ask her about this. Or is it just a load of rubbish?
Oh that’s me done for then Jen! Just come out from onc would have asked. Never heard it mentioned anywhere? X
I’ve read that alcohol, dairy and sugar can stimulate growth of hormone-receptive cancers. I’ve cut down alcohol to an occasional drink when out - don’t drink wine at home any more. Also cut down on dairy and sugar. It’s a barrel of laughs!
Alcohol unfortunately is a proven risk factor as is being overweight .I have cut back but still want some pleasures in life.
What ever produces it should be blocked by the pills surely, else why are we taking them? X
I think they have identified a number of things that encourage the production of “bad oestrogen” as opposed to good oestrogen that includes alcohol ,dairy fat and being overweight ,I’m not sure how the Letrozole works but Im guessing that Tamoxifen would counter act some of the effects of the bad oestrogen on any potentially abnormal cells.
Oncologist told me there is no real evidence that anything we do causes us to have breast cancer, they still dont know why some people get it and others dont, sheer bad luck i was told, im currently lying by a pool in Lanzarote drinking a Pina Colada ! One thing i do know for sure is life is for living ??
Personally, I’d rather adjust my diet than suffer the SEs of the AIs. This website has links to research into food and BC and also lists which foods promote/inhibit hormone receptor positive cancer, in case anyone is interested. (TBH I find it difficult to remember these) foodforbreastcancer.com/articles/what-should-hormone-receptor-positive-(er%2B-slash-pr%2B)-breast-cancer-patients-and-survivors-eat%3F
Good for you Jobey!?
