Back again so soon!!! Obvs up with the steroids! Loved reading through your posts. You are a lovely lot. Can’t wait to meet you for big hugs xxxx
Hi Sunbeams, wow some of u have had quite a busy week. The most excitement I got was painting the kitchen another job ticked off my "to do list. "
Well blood test yesterday for 3rd fec on Friday just got it the first result was 1.25 so sent it down to the lab to re-run it and got what they needed to proceed on Friday. Never thought I’d be happy to have chemo. Any delays will take me pass Christmas I’d love it all to be over by then.
Nutty what was the nutrition website u found? Got to eat healthier now and stop the comfort eating 6lb on a bit of a surprise. Can’t stop eating chocolate. Got my soups in the freezer ready for next week now.
Have my youngest sons birthday party on Saturday hoping I’m not too bad for that.
Have a good day people. Reading your posts and hearing how u deal with this testing time means I know I’m not alone. Char xx

Thanks Pam…your regime sounds about what I’m on. Going to be on the steroids for a bit longer I think. Didn’t feel so sick or thirsty on the Emend this morning. Wishing everyone luck coming up for third session. Just keep thinking half way there! Bit worried about Tax part but got to worry about something! X
Thanks for that nutty it’s mad really, up to diagnosis my diet was healthy have put on a stone since. Got to get a grid I am an emotional eater. Stress shows it’s self in many different ways. Have a good day. Char x
That’s really interesting about the hair thickening stuff, I’d never heard of that! Unfortunately it appears that you can only get it in natural looking colours, and mine is anything but natural (deep purpley red, gradually fading to orange now I can’t dye it!!) It might be useful later on in the growing back phase though, so I’ll definitely bear it in mind
Went out to teach choir in my hat yesterday and got loads of compliments on it. Some people thought it was to keep the rain off (which it did rather successfully) so that was funny. So buoyed up by my success I have ordered myself another one!
Emend and steroids were given to me too, Emend days 1 2 and 3, Dexamethasone 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus other anti sickness stuff too, so I think it’s OK. I’ve noticed a big difference this cycle having had the Emend, I think because I have been eating properly the whole time my recovery has been that much faster. (When I say ‘properly’ I actually mean ‘lots’, not all of it healthy by any means).
Nice to hear from you Rachael, glad that everything’s OK ![]()
Always impressed when people manage to do individual replies on here, I can never remember who said what! Lots of love to all though xxx
Hi lovely ladies, hope went well today Anna and you’re feeling ok and getting some rest!
Good luck tomorrow Char, and hope you can have a great time at your sons birthday party! The steroids will hopefully get you through!
Hope you’re all feeling as well as possible, and enjoy peppa pig world Peegee, I’ve got a pretty busy weekend planned with friends and family, I seem to get more tired in the 3rd so called ‘good week’, not ill so I’m lucky there, but deffo exhausted, and my eyes are stinging, but on the whole not much to complain about, although brain definitely getting more fuddled ??,
Lots of love to you all, nanight time for me ?, xxx Sam
Hello dear Beamsies, great posts in the last days, nice to see you back with us Rachael and thanks everyone for the fab messages of support. Had the FEC 2 yesterday and my clever nurse managed to find a nice plump vein … it went in v quick and easy (but do you all get the awful botty creepy feeling with the steroids? sorry to gross you out) but I have deep vein pain today - I guess we all get that from the E. Fecking nausea kicked in immediately and I spent the rest of the day and evening throwing up. Have new meds - Levopromazine to try, after day 5 and in the meantime, usual whammy of steroids, metoclopramide and ondansetron to tide me over till then. God what a faff. If no improvement I am going to the doctors and will lie on the floor screaming until someone gives me Emend. Like the L’Oreal women I AM WORTH IT! Good idea Pam, I can’t keep on top of the doses, so I’ve drawn up a drug chart.
We have BC in the family - I lost my darling sister to it. We are awaiting our testing and guidance from Guy’s Hospital. So sorry that many of you know what that’s like, but we all know that treatements are leaping along and HER2 is so recent, as is the ERPR testing - not around in the 1990s for my sister. It’s a different world out there and we are all so much safer now. Also, just look at our poster girl for risk-reducing surgery - the beautiful Angelina Jolie. Ho hum, less of this gloomy stuff, am off to gather up my hair which the kittens like to roll into balls (so wierd) and to enjoy seeing my daughters - all home to look after Mama. Sending you my love, support and fine energy. Anyone doing any Tai chi or suchlike? I’m all for dragon energy and am looking for a group to join…Grrrrr! Anna.
Glad you’re feeling sort of ok Anna, but you really shouldn’t be left to throw up, emend should be given as the others obviously aren’t working for you, it’s just not right!!
And Oh God that steroid feeling is 40 seconds of yuk! Got told before first one it’s just like a little tingly feeling in your bottom, I said after that was not just my bum and it was like 2 hedgehogs having a party in my lady garden!
Good luck to all the Beamers having the cocktails today, I’m off for bloods ready for 3rd and final fec on Monday, get nails done then friends round for food and fun tonight, hopefully I don’t nod off by 9 ?, hopefully a warm and sunny weekend for you all, lots of love xxx Sam
Ps I’m doing 20 mins of yoga and 20 mins of Pilates a day, miss the odd day, and a sort of run/walk combo with the dog, unless it’s raining now!!!
Oh my God, hedgehogs made me laugh so much!!!
Yes Anna, you are worth it!!! Wasn’t Emend specially developed for chemo patients? If so (and I might be imagining that) then it’s all the more ridiculous not to be given it when that’s clearly what it’s for!
I am glad that all this hair loss is giving so much pleasure to everyone’s pets, who’d have thought? New hat arrived yesterday, must be the quickest service ever so thank you Hats4heads!!! Went out in it to teach my group and got another load of compliments…what a dilemma! A very large part of me wanted to whip it off and say to them all ‘LOOK AT THE **bleep**ING STATE OF ME!!!’ but of course I didn’t, I just smiled politely and agreed that it is indeed a very lovely hat :-/
Wishing you all a good day, off into town to try and buy school trousers for daughter, oh joy. Better than Peppa Pig world though!!!
Hi gorgeous girls…apologies for not individual replies as I will forget but try and cover stuff I’ve read! I am feeling a bit left out in the bum tingling department!!! Day 3 post 3rd fec and glued to sofa. Just staring uselessly at Dickinsons Deals or whatever it’s called!!! Got to shift self to get daughter from school…day three emend. Feel a bit wasted and nauseous. Got the Ondansetron as extra back up. Glad this will end on the Tax. Got approved for a loan ( Miracle) to cover me if I need to go to half pay for a couple of months. This cycle I’m trying to think practically. All so uncertain. Have genetics test end of November as mum had breast cancer at 41. I’m blessed she’s still here 22 years later. She was on Tamoxifen which I can’t have so we have to get all her doctors notes. Scared of all the future implications for family and further preventative surgery and time off work. Also I’ve heard it can take time to start radiotherapy after chemo? Have to face sorting out my entitlements from occupational health and HR at my workplace. Got to pay the bills and mortgage myself. Check in later girls…oh ps have put on 10 lbs since July surgery!!! Can’t help eating bread for nausea and crave crisps! Xxxxxxx
Oh just remembered SAMPS…I also feel really tired in my ‘good’ week. Put it down to still getting my periods and feeling drained with the build up. Was told to expect them to stop and for chemo to bring on menopause but hasn’t happened yet. Anyone else??? Xxx
Funny you should say that Rachael, I’ve just started my period! That was the only side effect I was looking forward to! Early menopause come and get me!! But nope, still time, and I’ve out on 8lb since op, I’m thinking of it as I’m still keeping fit, and losing it will be something to focus on next year, as my nurse said " now is not the time to diet, keep active but listen to your body", I like her a lot ?xxxx
Yeah me too! my very posh onc having muttered darkly that ‘he could help me’ with my horrendous periods the blasted thing came one week into FEC 1. My ovaries are just determined to grind out the eggs (poor malformed old things).
Emend coming yippee … but needs to be signed off by onc, whom I am seeing Monday. Wish me luck friends! Sofa Beamies I love ‘Dickinsons Road Rage Escape to the Real Country’ (or whatever it’s called), but ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ is just too depressing… and hedgehogs in my lady garden, wow that is a truly wonderful image, but where would they hide? No bushes left… Hot ribena - lovely for nausea! howe area everyone’s gums getting on? My nurse said chomping on ice cubes as the E in FEC goes in does protect them, and the tongue too. Maybe the same for T???
I keep telling the amazing FEC to ‘attack! attack!’ those cells. Sniff them out, hunt them down and blast them. If other things get blasted too, then so be it.
Good strength to us chemo queens and best of luck to those wonder-women approaching the next cocktail. Regarding getting the cell (r and w) count up, my nurse said there’s nothing specific, but a multivitamin plus probiotic is a good idea (but not high dose anti-oxidant or garlic extract), lots of protein and meat if you can, and don’t worry about calories as this aint the time for the diet. Love Anna. X
Beamees
Yes, put on a stone since chemo started. Bread, crisps, fizzy drinks etc. and yes, wevs!!!
Good week tiredness yes also!
And periods still coming too.
Tick tick tick.
Blah!
Arrived in New Forest. PPW tomorrow!
??
Hello beamers x oh Anna your post made me laugh!!! Oh my God even with the worst hangover my mouth has never been so dry! Xxxx
Morning girls! Sounds like a lovely day Pam, hope you enjoy and you can take paracetamol, neurofen and I take soluble solpadeine, and if pain gets too bad then my once said a mix of paracetamol and neurofen can be taken together.
Have a top weekend girls, I’ve woken after a whole 5 hours sleep to gunky, stinging eyes again, will ask about drops on Monday, not too bad as SE goes though!! Lots of love xxx Sam
Hi Girls - felt rubbish yesterday - spent the day in bed - sick and my legs feel like I’ve ran for miles. Couldn’t face eating anything other than some custard last night . Have managed to shower today - but now sat back on my bed watching foodie program’s - what’s that about? - I fancy some apple crumble now. Your posts keep me going - knowing that in a few days I will start to feel better again. I’m off to research what makes hair grow back quickly - I’ve lost so much and I need to know what can fix it when chemo stops. Take care everyone xx
Hello dear Beams, ditto the posts from you lovelies keep me going on these tough days.
There’s been such a lot of vomiting in the kitten household. Have done it everywhere now. Roll on Monday and give me the good stuff or I WILL FIND YOU AND I WILL KILL YOU. Having said that, the Heinz Farmer’s Market soups are slipping down nicely, but don’t talk to me about pineapples, ugh … What do you all do about vein pain post-FEC? I’ve been rubbing on the nurofen gel, but it’s pretty painful still.
Re sore eyes; tover the counter Optrex sore eyes drops work real well for me, but i think we have to check first if we can use the infected eye variety.
Re headache; alternate doses of ibruprofen and paracetamol hold it at bay. I can’t take codeine so that’s it for me.
Re no hedgehogs battling it out in the garden - you are so lucky, that’s one SE I wasn’t bargaining for, nor can suggest any antidote to!
Re; natural hair colour - I’d love to find one, as I don’t like my grizzly bear roots. I am still using my little John Frieda wand thingy that I got from M&S.com, in dark blonde for v light brown hair and it hasn’t gone wierd, but it is a natural type, maybe the auburn wand would tone in with plum?
Hope you are all having a good weekend, managing those SEs and having a laugh doing something fun, and good luck with Peppa Pig and all her lovely little friends. Big respect to all of you doing chemo and looking after little ones, you truly are superstars. Love Anna.
