Biggest Good Luck wishes to you Ness, you won’t need them though, you’ll be home before you know it!! Look after yourself and soon be all fine and dandy, xxxx hope the rest of you soldiers are marching on, these rads are really tiring me out, it’s a long old day for 5 mins of nuking!! I’m using it as an excuse to stop at a different pub/ restaurant everyday to sample the cuisine, got to find the positive in it, oh and I’m really down wiv de kidz music wise as I’m listening to so much radio, different channel everyday, it’s like 20 days of random, enforced culture?, only 12 to go!!
Have a wonderful Wednesday if you can, let us know how you are ASAP Ness xxx Sam
Hello gals, hope all’s well for all of you. Hope results day went well Char, and Ness, Nutty and others are recovering well and Pam you have let the doctor take a peek at your poorly area.
I do like the idea of your radiotherapy pub crawl Sam - all those country pubs to sample is such a good idea. You’re in East Anglia aren’t you? Such nice ones to visit… I was brought up there. I nearly had a lovely pub lunch on Sunday with pals, but was summoned back immediately as daughter had cut off the end of her thumb with a rotary cutter working on her patchwork. Straight to A & E, but happy to report that it’s almost healed - the young are so good at that! Had first day back at work yesterday, lovely and sociable and hurrah to the return of a bit of normality beforethe rads treadmill starts next week.
Hello, I’m home! All went well, nice and straightforward apparently, phew! Will probably have to go back tomorrow to have drains out (good!). Although I’m stiff and sore, it’s great thinking that the cancer has finally been taken away. And it’s lovely to be in my own bed again!
I hope you’re all ok, just thought I’d pop in to say hi, and thank you all for your good wishes. xxxx
Well done amazing Sunbeams who are recovering from boob surgery - you sound so frisky. I think I was a lot less mobile than you… wasn’t thinking about treadmill type exercising at all, and found those simple movements they recommend all I could handle. I found the drains a real trial and nauseating to look at, but they whipped them out pretty swiftly in hospital on day 4. Poor Den, that’s all you need, how horrible to fall over, such a shock to the system. I’ve been reading up on menopause and BC/Tamoxifen, and I don’t think there’s a lot that’s recommended to ease the hot flushes, apart from wearing v little in bed … hmmm. Off to get stumpy inflated before nuking begins next week, crazy big round bosom, quite unlike it’s scrawny partner! Good luck to all who are trekking up to rads ech day, have a nice weekend to rest up and have some fun. Love Anna
Hello ladies hope your day is going well. Was on Wednesday I saw my consultant and oncologist no more cancer found yay! Interesting chat with my oncologist. Due to having LBC and my age I’m taking Letrozole also they are going to remove my ovaries to stop me producing hormones and advised to follow a low GI diet. Now awaiting radiotherapy date.
Started driving again today and walking need to shift some pounds now summers on its way. Hope you are all having a good day. Keep smiling xx
Great news from your oncologist Char! So pleased. You must still be smiling!
I am on the same drug now but they have not suggested removing the ovaries. So strange how our treatments are so different. Was your tumour oestrogen positive? P xx
That’s great news, Char, how lovely to be confirmed cancer free! Went back to hospital to have drains removed this morning…so thankful to be rid of them, they kept catching on a nerve and it was agony! Anyway, I feel so much better now, managed my gentle little exercises for the first time and feel as though I have reasonable movement, more than I thought. Not sure I would manage a treadmill though! I’m feeling quite positive about boob removal at the moment, glad to see the back of it to be honest, it’s caused so much trouble. In a couple of days I’ll start experimenting with my softie to see if I can even myself up a bit for taking my daughter to the orthodontist on Monday!! My friend popped round with a big bar of chocolate earlier, so there are some benefits to surgery you see
Yes Paul both were high. He offered that or injections. Did they tell you that u will need infusions every 6 months with Letrozole cause it affects your bone density that’s a bit scary. Whatever it takes to keep the cancer away.
Ness I’m happy with my softy it sits well. Do you plan to have reconstruction later? Being fitted for my prosthetic Monday that will be interesting. C x
Char I was told that I was to get a bond density scan ASAP and they would then monitor it. Infusions not mentioned nor removing ovaries. How strange we get such different treatments. P x
I was told that the drugs can cause bone density problems with extended use so they check all the time. Osteoporosis. I am to take Laprazol for 5 years then something else another five. Glad you got advice re oedema - reassuring. P x
Really great news Char, what a relief! and Ness glad those nasty drains are out, hope the gentle exercises feel ok, don’t overdo them tho… Hope everyone is having a good weekend, staying healthy and keeping warm. My absent boob aches a bit when it’s cold. Flipping freezing in my house again. No ill effects from Tamoxifen, just a faulty body thermostat, hot cold, hot cold! Byeee, Anna
Hi all, had a thrilling day here as had to take daughter to orthodontist to have her braces fitted…so now we’re both feeling sorry for ourselves and taking paracetamol!!! I feel very bruised and swollen and have to keep reminding myself that it’s still very early days. Am doing my exercises, in general finding them not too bad…it’s the last one I’m struggling with…ow!
Hope everyone OK, trudging through the seemingly endless appointments and procedures. Sometimes it feels as though it’s going on forever, but we have to remember that we are getting there
Ah I remember those last two exercisies Ness- wall walking and hand behind head lying down on bed …ouch! Hope you are healing nicely and regaining movement according to plan.
Went to zumba tonight and now am creeping around like an old crock. So stiff and sore!
Good luck to all Beams, feels a bit like Spring don’t you think?Love Anna
Good morning. Hope everyone’s getting on well today.
Den - your energy will return, it’s early days. Pam - I think you should ask your breast care nurse about bras; they know all the options and will be able to advise what’s going to work with your type of surgery. And questions to ask the surgeon, I’m sure it will all fall into place when you are in front of him (or her), maybe take someone along to take notes. You’ll need to know what he (or she) is removing, and why, what the likely recovery time will be, any special problems that might occur. My surgeon drew a little diagram so I could visualise it. My breast clinic has a BC support group - I wonder if your clinic does too? That might be a way of keeping the support going, esp as you won’t be having follow-up drugs, being TN. Off to get my first radiotherapy now, feels rather nasty not wearing deodorant…
Hope meeting with surgeon went well, Pam. Anna, I’m impressed that you’re doing zumba!! I was quite impressed with myself hanging out some washing today, so that shows you how things are here Actually I’m gradually starting to feel a bit better, and I can notice a small improvement in my mobility and energy every day which is encouraging.
How are you all getting on with the radiotherapy? I’m keen to know what the tiredness is like. Some of you must be nearly finished by now!!
Pootling along here as usual. Anyone fancy meeting up post-treatment? We’ve shared a lot and supported each other for so many months. Shall we reward ourselves with something together??? Love Anna X
