September surgery 2019

Hi, I’m a newbie, I’ve been using the site for information since July when I found my lump. I was diagnosed on 01/08/19 with invasive ductal carcinoma, grade 2, measuring 2cm on the scans, Her2 neg, oestrogen pos.

I had my surgery on Monday 02/09/19. WLE, bilateral mammoplasty and node removal so I’m still feeling a little sore right now, had my wound check yesterday, the nurse said she was impressed with the healing and my range of movement-I’ve been good doing my exercises ??‍?:relaxed:

My original plan of treatment suggested to me  in August will be rads and tamoxifen. I’ve been warned anything can change post surgery so will go and find out the official plan of action on the 24th sept.

Feeling a a bit nervous again waiting for the results. My surgeon said they managed to get everything, they had to go a little deeper but he didn’t expanded on this so I guess I’ll find out everything at my appointment. I’m sure if there was anything majorly different he would of said at the time of coming to see me on the ward.

I’m just wandering if there are other ppl like me? had surgery and now thinking what next? Feel free to share your thoughts.

Hi Rachel, so pleased to hear of your good results. I did smile a little wryly at your last sentence as it just so echoed where I was two years ago! ?. Short answer is yes. We have ALL been where you are now…waiting and wondering. Is it all out? Will I need more surgery? Will the next treatment be awful, or easy? The what ifs seem to fill your life, don’t they? My treatment is over now, so it’s easy for me to say you’ll manage. I held on fast to the idea that my MDT were doing everything possible to ‘ fix’ me. Not easy, this waiting game, but their success is your success. So…hold on , stay strong, keep occupied with good things. Tap into the September threads and you’ll meet people at the same stage you are now. Wishing you a safe journey onwards, and a successful outcome. ??

  Hi Rachel

I had my surgery on 30th August.

Like you invasive ductile carcinoma. I had WLE and therapeutic mammaplasty ( breast reduction) and sentinal node biopsy. I delayed surgery because my son was getting married two weeks after my diagnosis on 9th July which was possible as tumour highly hormone sensitive so started hormone therapy straight away.

I had not really thought beyond the surgery, apart from " I’ll have rads and then continue with the pills for 5 years" Fine, that I can do.

then last night I all of a sudden got the jitters: I have my appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday to get my results!!

what if they are not what I expect? I didn’t speak to the surgeon before leaving the hospital but assumed all went as planned…but what if not?

so yes, I know how you feel ?

Then I thought about what a lot of ladies on this lovely forum say: one step at a time

we can do this!

good luck Rachel and I wish you well on your recovery journey!

Hi I have just had my mastectomy on Tuesday and also feel anxious. I am doing well and have not really been suffering any pain and I am able to move my arm really well. I am also doing my exercises. I still have drains in place so finding sleeping uncomfortable glad when I can get them out.

I am also worried about my results and stressing it’s spread somewhere else. I go back 20 September . I am trying to take things a day at at time but it is hard. Wish you luck x
