Seroma in abdomen 3 weeks post MX and DIEP

Hi all

Any wise words about what to do with seroma in the abdomen after a DIEP. Is it better to leave it/them, and if so how long do they take to settle?

Or has aspirations worked, or do they just keep coming back?

I’m 3 weeks post op, I seemed to get over the surgery well and had a lovely flat tum, but now I’m all sloshy. The PS has had a go at aspirating,  but didn’t get much so back on Monday to have it done using ultra sound.

Is this a good idea or wot?

Any thoughts, folks, will be helpful, thanks

I had this,600 mis after 6 weeks,then a further 400mls,last one under ultrasound .

Usually seroma reabsorbs anyway.I wore a binder for comfort …all the very best.?

Hi Jilly

This sounds such a long drawn out process for you. We don’t get told about these possible complications,  but then maybe we would still have gone ahead.

I saw my PS yesterday and the towel across the tummy does seem to be working so far, but,  and this is utter vanity, the ‘plus’ of a flat tummy is gone at the moment.

So, I’m away on holiday with old friends while my chap has gone away with his. Different people to talk to and a different landscape, and just hoping the seroma stays minimal…Bye for now, Caroluna
