Hi
I had my breast surgery 7 weeks ago (mastectomy and axillary clearance) and I am still struggling with seroma. I have had huge amounts drained off several times but it just keeps coming back! It’s not sore just uncomfortable. Does anyone have any good suggestions on what I could try to help my body absorb the seroma?
I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing so much discomfort from a seroma @pink66
I am sure someone else in the forum will be able to share their personal experience of this. In the meantime, please know that our nurses are here for you, on the Ask our Nurses your questions board on the forum or over the phone 0808 800 6000.

I had this too and It was suggested I had a tight fitting bra day and night. It worked. I can’t remember the detail on size but probably a whole size smaller.
I just had daytimne & nightime ones, a bit expensive but if it works…
Glad I’m not alone!
Wearing my snug fitting post mastectomy bras 24/7 for the past 7 weeks hasn’t worked for me yet in clearing my seroma supply!! Have been told from next week I can be bra free at night so I’m wondering if that may help-who knows?!
I have a large saroma for approx 8 weeks now. I haven’t had it drained yet . It’s still quite moveable and not firm . I wear a compression bra all day but not at night. I have noticed my seroma gets worse the more excercise I do.Apparently we have to wait until it absorbs into body which could be months ?
I think you’re absolutely right about exercise making seroma worse. I made the mistake of hoovering the whole house on Friday and it made me swell up like a tight watermelon again-won’t do that again for a while! I’m also going to stop doing my physio exercises now I’m 8 weeks post surgery and my arm/shoulder situation is much better. Hoping it will make a difference.
