sharp pain in ribs and under arms

I had my mastectomy May last year followed by chemo and Rads which finished earlier this year. I’ve had my first mammagram since the surgery. Also had an MRI scan about 4 months ago which was ok.

However for about a month now I’ve been getting pains under my armpits and a shrap stabbing pain right through the bone around the chest wall where I had the mastectomy. Yesterday the pain was so sudden and so bad that I nearly threw up, face went grey and I was shivery. My ribcage on that side aches constantly

and It has crossed my mind that it might be cancer and the Doctors have missed it. I was ill for a whole year prior to being diagnosed. They kept suggesting it was stress. I knew it wasn’t then I’m just a bit afraid that its back.

Hi Diddly

I’m sorry to learn you’re having problems following your mastectomy. I have posted below the link to BCC’s publication ‘Your operation and Recovery’, you might find it useful. You can either download a copy or order a free copy to be sent out to you by post.

If you wish, you can also give the helpline a ring and have a chat with the breast care nurses here who may be able to give you some advice and information. The helpline number is 0808 800 6000 lines open Mon - Fri 9am to 5pm and Sat 9am - 2pm.

Hope this helps.

So sorry to hear that you are suffering so much pain. It does sound very intense if it gets that you are throwing up with it. Go get it checked out again and don’t let them fob you off.
