hi can anyone help me ,ive just been diagnosed with shingles on my right arm which unfortunatly has mild lymphodema,dr from out of hours given me anti viral tabs to help and told me to see gp on monday ,has anyone else had shingles on bad arm ,? as im worried about infection ,i did ask about antibiotics but was given none! doesnt look infected at moment just keeping a close watch on situation. I have lymphoedema, and I did have shingles once but not on bad arm. Have you tried speaking to lymphoedema nurse if you have one or breast care nurse for advice. I know how careful you have to be in case of infection and I would be concerned too. They maybe able to put your mind at rest.

As a fellow lymphoedema sufferer I feel for you. I would suggest you get an appointment asap with your own GP. He will then know your history and be better placed to prescribe for you. Whilst not suggesting you do not have shingles i was wrongly dx whilst on chemo by an out of hours dr who knew nothing of my history. My GP tore up the presription of out of hours GP and prescribed antibiotics.
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELPFUL ADVICE SAW MY GP YESTERDAY SHE DID NOT THINK IT WAS SHINGLES ,BUT MAYBE AN ALLERGY OR AN INSECT BITE!!!AND PRESCRIBED SOME OTHER MEDICATION. IT HAS ALMOST GONE NOW, BUT AS YOU SAY YOU HAVE TO BE SO CAREFUL OF YOUR BAD ARM .THANKS XX
During the time I was having Chemo, it was thought that I had Shingles on my Lymphoedema arm and I had a rash growing rapidly up my arm. In the end one doctor was convinced they weren’t Shingles spots and it turned out to be Cellulitis. I had to have Intravenous Antibiotics so I suggest you keep an eye on it.
