Not unexpectedly, many of us have had our minds concentrated over hair loss during our treatments.
I have had 6 FECs and lost my hair around the second session. However, I am not “shiny bald” like you see men who have gone bald. Apart from one or two spots, I have had a bit of fluffy regrowth like a dandelion all over my head. (And, sad to say, it is a similar colour to dandelion seeds - what I will call “extreme blonde” rather than grey/white.)
Being nosy, how have other people’s heads turned out? I feel a bit impertinent asking this question, because I almost feel like my baldy head is a secret only known to me!!
UGh, love your dandelion fluff…
mine is still in the process of shedding. I am mostly bald, with patches of 5mm short hair sticking out (don’t trust myself with a razor on my head… ).
I started E-CMF in May and lost my hair 2 days after Epi session 2. However, it never seemed to totally go, and the woman from Trendco who sorted my wig for me did say that I would never be completely bald with a shiny head like people with alopecia have.
Anyhoo, my hair started growing back as soon as I switched to CMF. I’m now mid-way through my 3rd of 4 and have quite an impressive covering of hair now. Mind you, I’m still not ready to go ‘commando’ just yet! My hair initially came back v.slowly and was incredibly soft, it still is in fact. Its now put a right spurt on and I resemble a baby swan or chick! Its incredibly soft and fluffy and is sort of the colour of pepper. Here’s hoping it doesn’t come back grey! No offence to anyone but I’m only 35 and not quite ready to join the grey brigade yet,
I’m very proud of my fluff! I keep saying to people ‘look, my hair is still growing’. Mostly they look at me like I’m demented, but I can see the difference. I never went shiny bald - clippered it off on a no. 1 after the second FEC, and it is definitely still growing. My OH was commenting the other night that it isn’t stubble any more, it’s nice and soft! I was dead chuffed.
Like you I have shed patches which are shiny - bald but have retained quite a lot of my fringe which is determined to hang on, but the rest of my hair is fluffy wisps and … ginger! Which I was not expecting as my hair (I thought but might be because I have dyed it for a while) is normally mid brown-auburny. My eyebrows shed a bit but seem to grow again in the 3rd week, the week of chemo. My eyelashes have, touch wood, stayed put so far and I’ve had 4 FEC.
Mine is definitely dandelion clock too after three FEC - it went after the first one. My wisps are definitely growing but nothing new seems to be coming through. They told me yesterday that taxotere is harder on hair, so I am just hoping my thinning eyebrows hang on. Not a lot left elsewhere either!
The dandelion look is obviously a very common one! This is just like my hair, fluffy, extreme blonde, grey/white, however you want to describe it! I keep thinking it is growing really fast but its not, Im just very optimistic! My eyebrows are hanging on for their lives at the moment and I have about 5 eyelashes on each eye! Had last chemo on Weds and am hoping that hair doesnt stop growing again but carries on despite this latest blast!
