Shivers & Chills on Tamoxifen

Shivers & Chills on Tamoxifen Does anyone else suffer from this?
Im sitting here, beautiful sunny day, heating on & Im wearing a jumper…& I just cant stop shivering! Ive been like it every day since I started Tamoxifen 8 weeks ago & am having to have a blanket on my bed at night coz I get so cold ( but then its thrown off in an instant when I get a hot flush! )
Anyone else experience the same???

I Do Hi Kathryn

I’m always cold! Ive always been a bit nesh but my hands are constantly cold and find i cant sit in my house with the central heating on with out a jumper - my poor hubby suffers as the thermostat is permantly on 23 degrees - sometimes higher.

I just been to spain too and at night i found 17 degrees cold, which would be a nice warm summer night here - i was wrapped up whilst everyone else had t-shirts on!

Wonder if its anything to do with circulation? Another weird thing is i have had a nose bleed out of the blue today - something i never suffer with, Dont know if its related to the Tamoxifen?

Take care

So it isn’t just me You know I’am fed up with telling people how cold I am, I did wonder if it was anything to do with the Tamoxifen, but I seem to blame that on everything these days. Normally I only moan about the rain, the cold doesn’t usually bother me. I had my op last November and started taking them more or less straight away and I can’t remember a winter where I have been so cold.

I was just thinking about putting the heating on actually but its so nice outside and I dread to think what the gas bill will be. Like you I have a jumper on and still feel cold, the test will be I suppose when summer arrives, if it ever does that is.

P.S While on the subject of Tamoxifen, has anybody actually lost weight while taking it? I have.

Tamoxifen & Losing Weight Hi Janice!

In reply to your post - yes I have lost weight! I have been taking Tamoxifen now for almost 2 years, since finishing my radiotherapy in May 2004. I also had a TRAM flap reconstruction in January 2005 - from which I have made a 100% recovery. Back at work full-time as a secondary teacher, going to the gym, swimming, pilates etc. Fingers crossed, I have never had any adverse reactions with Tamoxifen.

Best Wishes

GillT

PS I do go to WeightWatchers, which has helped me keep the weight down (and still going down!)

Yes, me too I’ve had the problem of chills alternating with flushes since being on tamoxifen - two years now - and it’s worse at night.

Also had bloody nose a lot, not actual nose-bleeds, but always blood there and on tissues.

Sorry no real answers, but you are not alone.

Thought it was just me! I can’t sit in my house without the central heating on and most times another electric heater. Then after a bit I get too hot and get flushes. I never associated it with Tamoxifen because it didn’t start when I started the Tam. last October. It seems to have started during my radiotherapy (21 November-23 December) - maybe it was a late side effect of the Tam. My heating bills since December have been phenomenal. After reading the posts on this thread, I am convinced it must be the Tamoxifen. Is there any end to the downsides of the treatments?

strange sensation It feels like a column of ice running through the centre of my body.Very strange when accompanied with a hot flush! Untill these posts I was beginning to feel I was an odd one out. Fran.
