Hi all,
I’m posted again as my first post hasn’t appeared.
This probably seems so trivial but I would appreciate any advice.
I have had a pain in my armpit for a couple of weeks - a dull rather than sharp pain. It is getting worse and I have had some numbness in my arm and ‘pins and needles’ in my hand. It doesn’t appear red, swollen etc as if it might be infected. Under the skin feels lumpy but I wouldn’t be confident to say there is a particular ‘lump’.
I noticed flaking on my nipple a couple of days ago - which I haven’t seen before.
Don’t they say pain is a good sign? I have no confidence when it comes to self examination - I have large breasts which constantly feel ‘lumpy and bumpy’.
I am almost 33. My mother was diagnosed at 35/36 and died days after her 46 birthday.
Many thanks.
Conijoni.

Save it under discussions profile (usually on right side of this box) so you can find it easily next time.
They normally say pain is more likely to be an infection or cyst rather than cancer. I also would say my “lump” was more like a hard area under the skin and wasnt really a lump. Any change though needs checking out.
GPs in generally would probably think you were too young but there are lots of younger women posted on here so thats not to say it cant happen.
You need to insist on getting it checked out and after Christmas is not acceptable. These things can spread very quickly. Our local guidelines say any suspicions need to be checked out within 2 weeks.
Please please insist on seeing your GP today and being referred for a mamagram or an ultra sound under your arm within the next 14 days. Let me know how you get on.
