should i be worried??

Hi all,

I had my annual app. with onc in Jan and mentioned a pain i get in my lower back mainly when sitting at work in the same position. Anyhow she said to put mind at rest she would send me for a bone scan. went for results today and she said shes said the radioactive dye has shown an area in the lower lumber area but after discussion with the radiologist think its more wear n tear or arthiritus. She sounded quite confident but however has now suggested a mri to be 100% sure.

My mind is working overtime and wondering if any of you ladies have experienced anything like this?

I haven’t, but I know someone else who has. CT scan showed ‘hot spots’, she was convinced it was bone mets, but after an MRI scan she was told it was arthritis.

She still has the pain - but is very relieved.
Dx

thanks for yr comment.

I’m basically in the same position. After a routine CT (because lymph nodes are involved) they found a lesion on T9, although they said it doesn’t look particulaly nasty on the Ct they did a bone scan which was inconclusive and onc was fairly positive saying it’s “probably not a met”. I get now an MRI soon, not because onc thinks it’s necessary, but because it might help to put my mind at rest as I think about it every day. I have a dull kind if pain in the thorax region, but not that bad that I would take a painkiller and this sensation in the thorax region is not always. In actual fact it seems to have gone better. I had two more FEC and one Docetaxel since the CT scan, makes me wonder if the chemo has shrunk it and that’s why it has gobne better?!
But I do hope the onc is right in saying it’s probably not a met. Onc thinks that the MRI won’t give us anymore info re the lesion but she is still happy to go ahead with it. I do hope it will give a def result of not being a met!

Love,

Christine xx
