Should I change from Arimadex

I had a check up with onc yesterday and everything was fine. My only problem is the SEs from Arimadex. Hot sweats and joint problems. He told me there were other options and to think about it. He is writing to my GP with a copy to me to suggest alternative tablets and if I want to change I can go at any time to my GP. My question is, has anyone else changed and what to? Also what SEs are there with the other tablets. By the way I have been on Arimadex for 2 years.

I changed to Aromasin (Exemestane) after a couple of years on Arimidex. I still have a bit of trouble with my knees but the side effects, for me, are less trouble. I have also managed to lose a lot of weight, which probably helps with the joints as well! Some people don’t get on very well with Aromasin - there is another thread about the side effects. I can’t remember the title but if you search on Exemestane you should find it. The third of the Aromatose inhibitors is Femara and there is another thread on that. Although they work in a similar way, the side effects do vary so it can be worth trying an alternative.

hi
I changed from arimadex to femera, mainly because the arimadex was not working very well.I have been on femera since last july and the main se I get are the not flushes.I have aches and pains but to be honest I had aches and pains before dx, so I find it difficult to say which are cancer/femera related and which are just down to getting older!
I think we are all different and react differently. As the femera is hopefully holding progression at bay I am prepared to accept there are se,s, as there will be se’s with any drug.Hopefully you will be able to find one which suits you better.
Good luck

Thanks for the comments, still dubious about changing. As you say there are always SE`s from drugs. Solution to sweats has been to go into the garden till I cool off but the joint pain particularly in my hands drives me mad.
