Should I get a second opinion

So battle after battle trying to get answers, I got imaging (mammogram and ultrasound) yesterday. I have had pain in my right breast since the 22nd of last month. I found a small nodule and there is inflammation above and below the nodule. I have no other symptoms, no redness, orange peel, dimples, inverted nipple, discharge, etc.
The radiologist compared my mammogram from a year and a half ago to yesterday’s and she states that my breast tissue was very dense, but unchanged. It says there is no dominant visable mass, no calcification, no focal skin thickening or architectural distortion. The ultrasound picked up the small mass at the 9:00 position measuring 6x7x3mm. It says there is a single internal linear echogenic focus which could be a septation or fatty hilum (no idea what that all means). She stated the mass is likely a complicated cyst or lymph node. It states there are no other associated findings at 8:00 or 10:00, which is the inflammation and pain.
I am still very concerned about the fact that there is pain. Should I feel comfortable with these results or ask for more testing? And if more testing, then which tests? Google obviously threw IBC on my radar, but I’m not presenting with anything other that the pain. I want to make sure I’m covering all bases.

Thank you in advance!!

Hi kbunny

Thank you for your post.

Breast pain can have lots of different causes and is not commonly a sign of breast cancer.

Being breast aware means knowing what’s normal for you so you can spot any unusual changes as soon as possible and it sounds like you have done this and had your symptoms checked out.

As you are still concerned about the pain and what this means for you, we would suggest you speak with your treatment team or GP about the breast pain you have and ask for them to explain the results of your tests and if anything further is advised.

Do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to more support and information if necessary.
