Should I remove steri strips now?

Hello

I’m new to this site. I’m not sure if anyone can help me?

I had a biopsy last Tuesday and will get the results this coming Wednesday. I was told to remove the steri strips after 5 days but when I started to do this tonight the wound still looked slightly open and there was still slight bleeding and what looked like pus.

Is this normal? I don’t want to risk taking it off and getting it infected.

The area of skin is now a mixture of red, black and yellow but I assume that’s normal bruising?

I’d appreciate any advice from someone who’s already been through this as I’m getting a bit worried!

Welcome to the forums. Can I suggest that you wait until tomorrow and contact your breast care nurse for further advice, I’m sure the users here will be along shortly with support and advice for you.

Thank you Lucy, I will contact her tomorrow. I suppose I was just hoping someone would put my mind at rest tonight. I’m a bundle of nerves at the moment! Thanks for the quick reply.

That’s the same with the bruising I had. It has just about gone now and that is after 2 weeks. I just left my strips on there till they more or less fell off. I showered etc and got them wet after 5 days but didn’t take them off till a few days after that. Best Wishes. LooLoo x
