shoulder impingement
shoulder impingement Hi
Has anyone else suffered with shoulder impingement/tendonitis due to radation damage. I had treatment in 2001 pluse node clearance and am now having trouble with my shoulder and arm.
Orthopedic guy suggests surgery but worried about lymphodema/infecftion.
Be great to hear of anyone else’s experiences with this.

Hi Denise,
my mum had bc 2 years ago, and she often complained about her left shoulder being in pain and would sometimes wake up with awful pain. She tried Reiki and said this had reall help, she now has no probelms. while having Reiki she did not tell the healer about the pain, but as the healer moved hands to the area she said she could feel a lot of heat coming from there. what ever she did had an effect. Hope this helps!

Hi Denise
I was reffered for physio at my request for neck pain 2 weeks before I was diagnosed with BC. I hate going to doctors so when I developed the lump, then neck pain, decided to “kill two birds with one stone”!!! The phsyio helped my neck so much that she “signed me off”, 5 weeks ago. Of course sod’s law struck and I developed a really painful shoulder 3 days afterwards. It pulls across my upper back on the left side and can be like a red hot poker or nagging pain and is almost constant. Sometimes I get a tugging sensation under my arm then my arm locks. Long story short, tolerated it for a week then rang the physio. Have to wait 3 weeks to see her. Doctor has given me pain killers and said it could be lympthodema. Am getting a 3 month check up on Monday so will see then. I really sympathise with you. It is so tiring being in pain and hope you feel better soon

shoulder pain hi there
very interested to read this post . for past few days have been having pain in left shoulder, will be having the last of 20 rads tomorrow . it started as a muscle type pain and now has the added delight of what feels like nerve pain . i’m now back on pain meds ,i got them to give me a scrip for it today, the radiotherapy girls have asked the physio to see me and she has given me an app for tomorrow. the pain is starting to spread up to my neck and strangely enough it hurts when i laugh. i had thought it was just post mast+recon eventual recovery, but now not so sure. was it right through your radiotherapy or did it start toward the end?

yes I was dx 2003 and shortly after ops and chemo developed very
bad neck shoulder and arm pains. T6 you know that big bone at the base of the neck gave me real problems, My head felt too heavy for the rest of my body and it was so weary.I had physio for about 6 months to get movement back in my arm and really thought I would never get it back to normal. I find I have to exercise to keep the pain away , I go to yoga 4 or 5 times a week and it does me the world of good, I had never done yoga before, you can find teachers who know so much about the body and are so willing to help you work out your pain. When you feel strong in the rest of your body try going for a walk at least twice a week and then when you are stronger still you might take up something like yoga. The best thing is to keep exercising.
if you don’t you could get a frozen shoulder on top of all the other pains.
I hope this helps.

As well Hello
I have just logged in and this was the first post I’ve looked at because last week I had a terrible shoulder, it was as though I had sat in a draught and had caught a chill. It hurt when I breathed too deeply. This week it is a lot better and I’m just going to put it down to a chill, the weather has been very changeable and quite cold recently.
