Side effects and when they kick in?

Hi,

This is my 1st post, so hopefully I’m on the correct board

I started taking Letrazole mid January. My 1st 2 months were Accord, 3rd was Glenmark and this one that I started 4 days ago is Cipla.

I sailed through menopause, to the extent that aside from my periods stopping I wouldn’t have known it was happening. A blood test by the Oncologist proved I was post menopausal.

So the hot flushes I started getting when I started Letrazole were rather a shock to the system! However, they were nothing compared to the joint aches I’ve recently started getting. I’ve also started putting on weight, 5 kilos in 4 months with no changes to diet. The hot flushes are a lot less severe though however.

I’ve read that different brands suit different people, but how do you know which one is causing the side effects? Is it the last brand or can 4 days on a new one make a difference that quickly? I font want to insist my pharmacy gives me a specific brand until I know it’s the right one.

Thanks for any help

Hi Just seen your post.  Welcome, it can be a very useful site especially for those of us on oral chem who don’t actually see anyone regularly.

I don’t actually look at the website often - perhaps once a fortnight but I have been on Letrozole Accord tablets since last July and agree that you do get joint pain, but at my age 76 and with osteoporosis thought that was part of it.    I have just read another post which says that Tamoxofen does not give the same joint pain so I intend to ask about at the next phone call.

In the meantime just try and walk each day if you can - you may still be working - I find that a good walk even just half a mile is good. I have just joined a Tai Chi class so am hoping that might help too.

Can’t help with the hot flushes apart from saying no caffeine after about 3or4pm. That might help, along with cotton bedclothes.

Best wishes
