Hi just started my rads this week (late afternoon each day). I am finding each morning l have a really muzzy, thick head which makes me feel a little giddy…it does clear during the morning but just wondered if this has happened to anyone else. Feeling worried as l still have 16 days to go!!!
Hi Ann
I just started this week as well; I haven’t felt giddy, but sometimes I understand it may be your blood pressure is a little low when you wake up & improves as you get through the morning.
Are you on any medication such as Tamoxifen as I understand this can make you feel muzzy.
I’d contact my BCN for advice or ask one of your radiographers if a nurse can check you out when you next go.
I’ve had 3 sessions so far out of 15 (3 weeks worth). I sometimes feel a little giddy when I get up from the treatment table after my session; radiographers don’t rush me & if I stand up slowly not a problem.
Take care
Lynne
Hi Lynne
Thanks for your advice l might well ask them on Monday particularly as l have started taking Tomoxifen. I hope this isn’t going to be the case for the next 5 years of tablets! Still a small price to pay if it helps keep cancer away.
Hope you are well
Anne
Have done 5 of 20 this week and am also on tamoxifen and found no effects whatsoever…!
Hi Anne
I’m lucky in that I only needed surgery & rads, no hormone drugs as far as I know.
Try having a look at the treads on hormone treatments, it may give you some useful info on Tamox side effects.
My rads are Tuesday to Saturday, as I work full-time it will seem like a short weekend as back to work on Monday.
Good luck & take care
Lynne
Hi Girls,
I had my 15th and final rads session on Monday. Skin has reacted well but I’m a bit bewildered as skin on the bottom half of my breast below the nipple is not red, it looks quite normal, have any of you experienced this. Apart from this all went well and as I am very fair skinned I feel I got off lightly.
Luv
Tina
Hi Tina
I had 20 rads which finished in November last year and I was the same, my skin was absolutely fine. I checked with the nurse and oncologist a few times as to why this was and whether it had been done properly with my measurements but I was reassued that it had and that they could see the line where I had had it done compared with my other breast. They told me not to worry. I am also fair skinned but I do tan easily which is strange.
Take Care Amanda xx
Thanks Amanda you’ve helped to put my mind at rest. I can’t believe that I was actually thinking they should give me more rads.
Good luck
Tina
I finished my radiotherapy last Monday and at that time I had no visible signs of getting treatment. However they warned me it would get very tender and it has. Skin looks sunburned and under breast area is very red. Under arm looks a bit bruised/purplish. I’m still at work so its not changing my daily routine but it does feel very tender.
Does anyone know when you can start using deodorant again? Feel when I am warm (and obviously sweating) it nips a bit. I’ve had all my lymph nodes removed. Overall radiotherapy wasn’t bad - more tiring travelling to/from the hospital.
Hi Edina,
My breast care nurse told me to to wait four weeks from last treatment before using deodorant, my usual body creams and shower gels. I had five lymph nodes removed and my underarm nips a bit too when I get hot.
I finished radiotherapy last week. For some reason I’ve got the wobbles when I think about my follow up with the oncologists in a few weeks. I have asked what this involves and am told it’s just to check my skin. Does anybody have more info on it. I find I get the wobbles for the strangest things.
Luv
Tina
Hi Tiny Tina,
I finished my rad last week too and have my onc appt. in 5 weeks time.
Like you i am feeling nervous about it.
I expect that it might just be a member of their team and not the onc. themselves, but i don’t know!
Good luck when you go, let me know what happens!
Hi Tiny Tina,
Whoops - i have just read your comment about deodorant.
i have been using it again but only above the suntan line under my arm - maybe i ought to stop for the next few weeks?
Hi
I’ve been using the Crystal type deoderant every day only just completed firste week of rads; 2 to go.
On the side being zapped I only apply to top of underarm, this area not being zapped.
Radiologists checked it on my first day & confirmed Ok as no aluminium in it.
Take care
Lynne
Hi Lynne,
Where can I buy the Crystal deodorant. It would be nice to have deodorant under both arms!!
Luv Tina
Hi
I bought it in Boots. Found it with the all the other deod’s.
I went for the “stick” rather than the spray as I thought easier to make sure only goes where it needs to.
Take care
Lynne
Hi Tina,
The crystal deo is called Pit Rok. I start rads tomorrow and bought some today in Boots. Wish I had read Lynne’s post before I bought it though, because I bought the spray rather than the stick. Was just thinking it would be less sticky, but didn’t think about spraying it everywhere!!
