side effects of taxotere

I have had 3 FEC and start on the first of 3 Taxotere in the morning. Not looking forward to it but got to be done. Can anyone tell me who has already had it if the side effects for T differ to FEC. I was meant to see my Onc on Monday but he wasnt there and saw someone else who wasnt really much help. All she wanted to talk about was radiotherapy which wont be until Feb and when i asked about side effects of T she just said seeing as i was healthy generally apart from this i prob wont have many but bones may ache. Ive heard there are problems with nails and that i will have to have injections? I would appreciate any details from anyone who has had it.
Many thanks Annette x

Hey Annette, I’ve just finished chemo, had 3 FEC then 3 docetaxol. I found the differences to be immediately I felt fine, then day 2/3 I would start to get aches and pains, personally I found it worst in my face/jaw/teeth/sinus but also across my back and neck. This would usually last about 3 days, I took lots of painkillers and had to get stronger frm my Gp. Then I would lose my taste buds, I got oral thrush and bad gum inflammation the first time but it wasn’t so bad for the second, lasted about 5 days. My finger and toe nails would feel tingling like I’d shut them in something, I painted them dark and so far none had come off just peeling nails but I still have some of each nail. It’s different in that you don’t feel well for longer but I know some people had no problems all the way through, it’s a personal thing. Good luck and I’m sure you’ll be fine xx

I’d echo what Lauralable says. I found first docetaxel / taxotere my toughest chemo so far. I developed sore palms and soles of feet like severe sunburn that started peeling. As well as bone pain I had painful muscle twitches and I got very severe thrush in throat, vagina and a skin lesion. My dose was lowered from 150mg to 120mg for the next chemo and so far it has been a lot more manageable - just some aches and pains and tiredness. I am also on home injections to boost white blood cells (had these for FEC too) which cause some bone ache but it’s not too bad, mainly twinges when I turn over in bed.

Hi . I have just finished my course of 3 FEC and 3 T . I found the T worse in a few ways . Its the bone and muscle pain that can be so debliitating . Didnt suffer from sickness however with the T which i suppose is a bonus … my mails did get ridges on but stayed put . Food tastes strange due to the oral thrush . Add lots of herbs and spices that tended to help . Still getting pins and needles in toes and fingers . And muscle aches eve now 3 weeks after my final treatment . But this is getting slightly better daily . Hope all ges well
