Signs after Chemo

Hey everyone.
Just wanted to create a new post!
Currently had 2 cycles of chemo for HER2 + breast
After one round i noticed a massive difference in my breast. The swelling had gone along with any type of pain i had.
After the second round it feels softer too. I can still feel the lump i feel like its smaller.
They did tell me i could get total response from start with the type i have.
Anyone else experience any changes?
Jemma xx

Hi
Before I started treatment I could see and feel the lump. Six days after my first chemo I couldn’t feel or see the lump. After the 3rd cycle I had an ultra sound and the lump had flattened. I had Docatexal and Carboplatin with a Phesgo injection as I had HER2 positive breast cancer, grade 3. I had just four cycles of chemo 🩷

Thats the same treatment as me too. I think it is common with our type to get good response.
I could see mine in light through the skin at different angles. And i cant see it now xx

I did find that chemo did affect me quite badly, spent a week in hospital after being severely dehydrated, it also affected my kidneys but things have improved. I had my lumpectomy in Nov 2022, I have two zolendronic bone infusions left to have.

Yes @jeml i had massive lump Her2+ve that i could feel some of at the start and after a couple of cycles of EC i couldnt feel lump at all, along with pains and feeling of pressure. I had a MRI after five months of treatment which showed total response, which was a surprise. It means that i dont have to have mastectomy, unless they find something unexpected at surgery and i’m booked in for therapeutic mammaplasty next week. So thinking positive thoughts. Good luck with the rest of your treatment.

Thats amazing! I love hearing all the positive stories. It does seem to be a thing with HER2 who i have spoken to. It responds well to treatment.
I am being very positive… just now and again the odd little negative tries to creep in! Which is probably totally normal and im sure everyone has them.
Thank you. Will be having my 3rd cycle of chemo start of September then im at the half way mark! X

Also good luck with the surgery! Your nearly there xx

I agree it has been worth going through all the side effects x💕

Our lifes are worth everything!x

Yes, I was triple positive and mine shrank quickly. When I had the lumpectomy the surgeon said I’d had a ‘total pathological response’, meaning the lump had gone. Still had tissue clearance, followed by radiotherapy and am on hormone therapy. Hope all goes well for you xx

Thats amazing news! How are you feeling now??
I cant believe next weeks session i will be half way! Glad its flying by.
And thank you. X

I’m doing well, thanks. Finished chemo and radio over three years ago. I had herceptin jabs too. I’ll be on Anastrozole for 10 years in total but no bad side effects. I can still have anxious thoughts but they’re getting fewer.
So good to think ‘half way through’ about your chemo. It will pass quickly and you’ll move forward from being a cancer patient to being yourself again. Xx

Yes i can imagine it takes a good while… its probably something we will never get over! I think i already have Ptsd going to bloody breast clinic!
I not doing too bad the odd thought comes in and i am managing to push it away. Spoke to my consultant about my worries and he put me at ease again.x

Hi Jemma
I had a similar response. After 2 cycles I could hardly feel the lump. I had carboplatin and Docetaxel and Phesgo too. By the end of my treatment I had a pathological complete response. It certainly makes it all worthwhile. :muscle::muscle::muscle:

Thank you for sharing! I need all these positive stories!
If you dont mind me asking how big was your lump? X

I had 2 lumps. 30mm and 12mm. The treatment melted them away! I feel so very lucky. All the best with the rest of your treatment. :sparkling_heart:xx
