A bit of a strange question for everyone with silicone implants.
I have tonight taken off my bra, which was a bit tight and had left red lines diagonally accross my reconstructed breast. I now have a lump/bubble in my cleavage, it is about the size of a grape and, when pressed, ‘pops’.
Has anyone else had this? I just hope I havn’t done something permanent.
Thanks everyone.
Jackie.
Hi Jackie,
I had my reconstruction last July and have a “poppy” area in my breast. I too, get the occasional red mark from a too tight bra, but my breast seems to go back to its normal shape naturally. Cosmetically, my reconstruction looks fantastic and when I saw the surgeon last month (as am having mastectomy other side soon) I pointed out the poppy bit to him- he was totally unconcerned and I took it that I just have to live with it- small price to pay in the look of the breast. I suppose if they expanded it, it would go, but who knows? I’m not concerned as its not noticeable- well not until you press it anyway-its also exactly where my tumour was (is yours?) I thought maybe (and I could well have made this up-ha!) that they may have dug out more flesh in that particular bit to get it all!?!

Thanks Katy.
I was just about to go to bed a bit worried, so I am glad I logged on to see if anyone had posted a reply. You have eased my mind. Iwill show my surgeon at next check up just to be safe.
My mast and recon is prophylactic andI am also waiting to go in for other side. When I wear this particular bra my new boob does seem to be a bit of a different shape but now you mention it, it does go back again. The popping is the strangest thing ever!
Thanks again. Good luck with your next op.

Hi
I to have a small pucker in my reconstructed breast. It’s as if there is slightly too much skin and it creases. It is more noticable when I am laying down. I saw the plastic surgeons last Fri and they were not concerned as Katy said it’s a small price to pay. I can still show a bit of cleavage (providing I put a chicken fillet in the other side)
Sandra
Hi Sandra
Mine is more of a bulge into the cleavage area, the lump is slightly smaller today, so hopefully on the decrease. I am wondering if I am wearing the wrong size bra, but until I get my second recon done it isn’t worth being measured. Having odd sized boobs makes the bra sit awkwardly I suppose.
Just wish i could leave it alon. Maybe I should sit on my hands!
