silicone sheet/gel for scars

has anyone tried this and found it effective?  I am not so worried about my mx scar which is quite low down, but the scar from my portacath is quite high up and a bit lumpy and I would like to minimise it if I can.

Hi Kes

I finished my treatment in March 2013 but occasionally pop on to the site to see how everyone is.  I saw you post and that there weren’t any replies so wondered if I could help.

I didn’t use silicone gel for breast scars as I only had a lumpectomy but in 2010 I had bilateral bunion and hammer toe surgery and the scars go right over the side of the big toe joint and down towards the nail.  I used silicone gel all the time on these scars and found it excellent.  I wanted fast healing so that I could wear proper shoes and I felt it helped more than ordinary creams.  It was very expensive but a little goes a long way.  I did use it on my sentinal node scar as it was rubbing on my bra.  Hope this info helps.  Good luck.

B.
