Sleepless in Sheffield

Hi I’m new to the group and this is my first post. I’ve been browsing for a few weeks, and thought I’d take the plunge and introduce myself.

I found my lump by accident, as my breast was a little sore, but not sure if I had knocked it picking up my 20 month old Granddaughter or with my 1 year old pup jumping up at me.

After discovering the lump, I contacted my gp, who put me on a fast track appointment for a mammogram and ultrasound.

I was diagnosed in February with a grade 3 triple negative tumor, and had WLE and SNB at the beginning of March. Luckily they are quite confident that they have got everything, and there is no spread to the lymph nodes.

I have been quite positive, and keeping myself distracted with family and friends. My husband has been brilliant, and we’ve had a couple of weekends away and even a couple of date nights that may have ended up with us drunkenly dancing around the kitchen

I saw my oncologist yesterday, and I think that’s when it finally hit me, that this thing is not over by a long shot. Don’t get me wrong I was told I would be having chemo and radiotherapy, but I think I pushed it to the back of my mind. I should be starting treatment in the next couple of weeks.
So here I am reading my leaflets and googling wig shops

Good morning Girl5

So pleased you have come to the forum with your story. We are all here to help you as we have all been there ourselves.

You sound so you have a good team behind you with families and friends which is most important. However you do have a hurdle to climb with your next stage of treatment. I’d like to wish you lots of luck going forward with an excellent outcome at the end.

Please keep posting and let us know how you’re getting on, but most of all keep up those date nights and dancing around the kitchen with your husband, which I feel sure will help you through this treatment and your beautiful granddaughter will keeping you going.

I always say one day at a time, biggest hugs from me Tili :rainbow: :rainbow:

Hi Girl 5 sorry to hear your news it’s a dreadful thing for anyone to go through, I’m in sheffield and went through chemo and radiotherapy last year I’ve still got some treatment but not as daunting, I breezed through chemo an radiotherapy but I’ve struggled after with the aftermath of treatment trying to get back to new normal , be kind to yourself and rest whenever you have the chance , speak to people in in same situations as you cos it’s a massive help as they have a better understanding of what your going through, my busy hectic stressful life got in the way of recovery so I had to re-evaluate everything, I took on the advice made changes and put myself first, my energy levels are still a bit up an down but you get there, it’s good to talk also I’ve joined groups which have been amazing support, good luck with everything an keep posting even a rant lol it all helps xx
