I had a lumpectomy in November 2011 followed by 3 weeks of radiotherapy. I have had a hard lump along the scar which was scar tissue and that is softer now. However on examining my breast this weekend I have found a different lump. I spoke to the BC nurse and she has booked an appointment for me in to be examined but its not for another week and a bit. She has given me some reassurance saying it sounds like it might be tissue surrounding a stitch under the skin. I’m really worried. I had a mammogram in November last year and all was nornal. This lump feels a bit like a pea, hard and small behind the scar line and near the end of the scar line. Has anyone had this?

hi
sorry you’re having a worrying time,
i’ve had bc in both boobs & recently had a recurrence on my 2009 mastectomy scar - it did feel like a hard pea but just below scar line & did prove to be cancer again but was told ‘highly unusual’! had surgery & now having rads & ok!!
i have had lots of long waits (found last aug!!) & definitely think the waiting & wondering is v hard…hopefully you’ll have some other posts of better results - altho’ guess most people are on this site because of positive results so don’t despair!
do talk to the helpline they are always wonderful
hoping all goes well for you

Totally agree with Kath, the waiting is the worse part and we have had plenty of that too, both of us having had several recurrences
It is best to get these things checked properly, quite often it is something simple but not always,
You could alwasy cal your BCN and explain how upsetting it is and any chance it could be bought forward
Best wishes and hope it does plove ro nothing, keep us informed

I had similar at end of last year - many tests and needle aspirations and scans etc couldnt tell what it was, so agreed to yet more surgery which revealed it to be entirely harmless - it was a fat necrosis caused by first 2 lots of surgery. Had to have it removed though - would have done my head in with worry about what it was if I’d left it. Another pretty little scar to go with my others lol
Diagnosed April 2011, WLE and lymph node test - then second WLE, HR+, Grade 2. On Tamoxifen and Zoladex. Refuse to be beaten x
Hi, my story is almost identicle to FrootLoop, I had a small lump between my WLE scar and my AX scar, was removed but turned out to be totally benign, so please try not to fret too much between now and next week xx
I found a hard lump near my scar after nearly 5 years. It wasn’t clear from an ultrasound whether it was a recurrence or fat necrosis in scar tissue, but, much to my relief, that’s what it turned out to be after biopsies were taken. You are absolutely right to get it checked out and the waiting is awful, but with a clear mammogram only a couple of months ago, I would have thought it is much more likely to be something benign.
Good luck
Anne
Thanks guys for your support. I’m a bit busy between now and the appointment so can’t really change it,hopefully being busy will keep my mind off it. I’m trying to stay postitive and on the other hand also saying to myself if its back I’ll just have to deal with it again. I’ll be in touch after the appointment. Thanks again xx
Hi ladies my scan went really well today. Thankfully the small lump are clips left in my breast to guide radiographers to treat the tumor area with a booster. I have very little fat where the tumor was so the clips are quite close to the surface. I can have them removed if I want but as for now I’m happy to leave them there and leave that area alone. Thank you for all your support. xx
thank goodness for that xxx
