So tired!

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September. I had a lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy on 5th October (cancer hadn’t spread) followed by chemo (3 EC then 3 Taxetere). The chemo was dreadful but I had my last one in February (it took me ages to recover!).

I had radiotherapy every day for 19 days (finished a week and a half ago), and started Herceptin two and a half weeks ago.

Compared to the time when I was having chemo, I’m much better, but I’m still very tired and, I think, a bit depressed. I honestly can’t envisage feeling energetic or enthusiastic about anything ever again.

Is this normal? Does anyone else know what I’m talking about?

Tracy

Hi Tracy and welcome to the forum. This post should really be in the section Living with Breast Cancer/After Treatment has finished where you will find many answers and sympathetic friends.
FWIW your symptoms sound very normal to me. Good Luck.

Hi Tracy, welcome to the forum,

I am due to have my 6 tax of 6 on Friday,

I too feel very tired, but believe it is the ses of the tax,

I have to have radiotherapy in the near future, I believe that can make you feel very tired too.

I have personally found I am on a roller coaster of emotions, one minute feeling ok, the next weepy, angry, etc,

Give yourself some time to recover, it can take quite a while, just go with it and let your body tell you,

I take it pretty much each day as it comes and deal with how I am feeling today, You will feel better it just takes a long time, on days when you feel ok try to plan to do something you know you will enjoy, it is very easy to fall into a rut, you may find yourself finding it difficult, I know I do,

anyway all the very best to you, you will get there,

love liz xx

Hi Tracey
I was diagnosed in Sept like you and had 8 doses of chemo and just coming up to 24 sessions of radiotherapy. Chemo was hard but at least there was a week when you felt normalish. With radiotherapy it was a slow burn, I feel like I’ve been run over by a steam train. So tiring and your bones ache so much. Hope it will get back better soon x
