hi. i wonder if anyone could offer some advice. I am 38 year old female and have a daughter of 10 years. i am currently undergoing tests for a lump which i have found in my right breast. my doctor said that he didnt think that it was anything to be worried about but with all lumps should still be checked out. 3 weeks ago I had a mammogram which came back fine and an ultrasound, the radiologist said that he could see 2 lumps which did not look cancerous. the doctor at the hospital said that he would take a needle biopsy as a precaution. 2 weeks after the biopsy i returned to the hospital to get results and i was the the biopsy came back inconclusive. i briefly noted on the report that it read no cyst or mass, however the hospital doctor referred me for an mri scan, which i had yesterday. i have been mostly positive up until the mri which i found extremely daunting and today i have convinced myself that the results are not going to come back with good news. Also, although the lump does not hurt upon touching the breast itself aches. I am sure also the lump has grown in size.
Sorry that you have had to come to this site.
I can’t really advise you about what to do, but the waiting and the unknown is awful. As mine was dx within a week I consider myself very fortunate, considering some of the time you ladies have to wait.
You can rest assurred that the Doc won’t leave alone until they get a result, which is good ( it may not seem like it now) so that at least you will get a diagnosis and the care needed, whatever it is.
Try and enjoy your daughter and family this weekend. When do you go back for results?
Thinking of you.

Hi Toffee and Lucy
Thanks for your reponses. My results are due within a fortnight so I can only wait. Fingers crossed.
Toffee at first i didnt realise what you meant by dx, which you may have read in a seperate reply. However, i understand now and I hope that all is ok with you.
Thank you so much both your support and lucy i will probably try the number you provided either tomorrow or over the weekend.
Have a great weekend. xx
As toffee says it’s good that they are not leaving things at teh ‘inconclusive’ stage, but pressing on with more and more tests until they get a final result one way or the other … fingers crossed that it proves to be nothing sinister at the end of the day. At the same time the waiting is horrendous and every time they order a new test it makes the mind go off in a panic again.
Like toffee I was lucky that I got a diagnosis within a week and in a way this was much easier - I then had an idea of what I was dealing with and a treatment plan in place, which sort of put me in control of the lump ratehr than the lump being in control of me.
Good luck and let us know how you are getting on.
Hi dsab01
It’s difficult to stay positive when so many things run through your mind but fingers crossed for a good result. I’ve suffered with ‘lumpy’ and sore boobs since I was a teenager (now 45 - or at least for another 2 weeks!). Had a mamo in Jan 07 because of pain but came back OK. Felt a lump in April this year so had another mamo, ultrasound and biopsy all on the same day and got the result within a week. Unfortunately it wasn’t good news this time but the op is over and once I start treatment, I will be looking to pick up my life where I left off, or even improve it.
I know the waiting is horrible but lets hope ‘inconclusive’ proves to be negative.
Best wishes
Hi there sweetie, I know exactly how you feel as my lump came back inconclusive and I went through hell waiting for surgery and then the results, but it turned out to be just abnormal cells, but not cancer and they were removed. Fingers crossed that you get the same result.
