Something is going on and it isn't good!! lol

Well as you’ve guessed I’m a midwife and us health professionals are the worst at looking after ourselves!!

I have very fibrous breasts and they always feel a bit lumpy and I am sure a BC lump would be hard to detect. Anyway…I have had a thickening of my breast tissue on the left breast, to the outer side and it’s about 2 inches! There are lumpy, irregular areas within this thickening and it’s almost gritty. I am constantly tender, like a throbbing toothache around the area and slightly upwards into my armpit. I also have a protruding vein…in fact 2!  I’m 40 and have had a hysterectomy so I wouldn’t get cyclical pain in my breasts (it’s constant anyway)

I am ashamed to say that I have been aware of this for 2 months…maybe a bit more, but with a busy life and caring for others, I’ve neglected myself. Anyway, I went to see our nurse practitioner the other day who was great and got me an appointment with 12 days at the breast clinic.

Whatever this is, it isn’t good. Something just doesn’t feel right in that area and I can’t put my finger on it…scuse the pun!

So I will let you know how I get on in case it helps others

Hi Vicky,

Welcome to the forum. Seems as if you have retained a sense of humour, which is great considering how worried you must be feeling right now. Most of us here have been at the stage you are at now, so if things do turn out to be ‘something not good’ then you will find huge support, lots of information and advice on here.

I presume your your appointment at the clinic must be this week or next? I suspect you will have a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy check of the area.
