Sore after surgery but four days later x

Hi ladies. Hoping someone can help me. On Monday morning I had a left therapeutic mammoplasty with axillary node clearance. During the first night in hospital it kept bleeding on and off so the consultant said to put pressure dressings on. The next day my dressings were changed as they were blood soaked and new ones put on along with a new pressure dressing. I was then discharged. I think I have done really well with the pain and arm exercises. Today I took the pressure dressing off as per instructions. It was a relief initially but now is very sore, not so much painful just sore. The dressings seem dry but, and sorry for too much info, there is a smell kind of like Maltesers between my boobs. I want to give the area a good blast with the shower but was told to be very gentle until the dressings come off on Monday. Is that normal? I have seen/smelt infected wounds before in my previous life twenty years ago as a theatre nurse and it doesn’t smell like that. Thank you in advance for any help xx

It’s prob just cos you haven’t been able to wash properly ,pretty sure you would know if you had an infection due to smell and heat like you say(sorry to those eating their tea)…Any doubts, go get wound checked at BC unit if you are nearby .

Hi bootyboo. Cant advise anything except havent they given you a number to ring if ur worried / concerns? If they have Id ring and ask better then worrying. Malteasers must be like a yeast type smell. I hope things soon get a bit better for you. Im still in hospital dont think home for me tomorrow. Still see what surgeon saz in morning. Sounds like your having a rough time too lovely. Hope it settles soon.

Hiya Bloss … Thought i would just dip into this thread as I dont usually visit here -  to find out how you are feeling now. You must be home now and beginning to feel that it was all worth it although I would imagine the recovery time is a long one BUT hey ho …you are very brave and have some nice sunshine and Spring like weather to help you feel better.

Hugs xx Carolyn
