I had surgery in May and Radiation for 15 days finished end september. I am still getting pains now and again in my breast and stinging. I mentioned it to the onologist on Wednesday and she said it is not side effects from Radiotherapy as they only last a few weeks. I have noticed that other people have it for months after radiotherapy but she was adament you dont get it that long after you finish it. She checked the breast and said more than likely scar tissue. I am on Letrozole have been on them since the end of August, i am getting bad side effects from them headaches , joint pain and stomach upsets but she was reluctant to change them even though she knows i also have a colostomy and they are causing problems there. Any advice would be apprciated thankyou
My breast ached and pained for ages after radio Sue. I also had shooting pains - nerve pain - that would come and go too. Ring your breast care nurse and discuss how you are feeling xx
Just read your post.
i had my lumpectomy February last year ( 2017) and finished my 5 days x 3 weeks radiotherapy end of July.
i still even now 18 months later get sharp shooting pains and tenderness in my left breast.
was told by my bcn thst it can last for a few years, just depends on the individual.
i had my first mammogram back in February this year and it was all good.
dont know if this will help with your worries but might do. Onwards n upwards…x
I had lump and sentinel nodes removed Nov 17 and radiotherapy through Feb 18 and I also still get some sharp pains and it feels lumpy. I had an ultrasound in the summer and was reassured that its all down to internal scar tissue. I’m lucky to live near a Breast Cancer Haven and had some massage and stretching classes there which have helped a lot (although painful at the time!) Its always worth getting checked if you are worried but I find it helpful to know lots of us feel this way. Hope you feel more comfortable soon xx
Yes I will second that! I’m a year on from WLE and rada and still get tweaks and twangs!! Just had results from 1st annual mammoth and all clear!! Guess its just scar tissue. I also still have a visible blue blob on my boob!! All world record or can anyone beat that? ???
No blue blob here Alibob,
I reckon that IS very unusual !!!
