I had a right breast mastectomy almost 2 weeks ago. Have felt fine ,just bearable aches under both armpits.i had lymphnodes removed on right breast and biopsy done on left.under both armpits there is pain ,like a too much sunburn pain type.is this normal, called my cancer nurse but hasnt gotten back to me yet.
Hi @maryb
It’s good you are checking with your nurse, but I’m sure there will be plenty of people popping along here to reassure you that what you are feeling is normal. Almost feels like a carpet friction burn? It’s annoying, and is a bit sore at the time, but it does pass. x
Hi.
So sorry you find yourself here.
I had a mastectomy 10 years ago followed by axilla clearance 2 weeks later and the pain from the lymphnode surgery was so much worse.
Hopefully your breast care nuse will be able to reassure you.
I hope that helps.

Hi Maryb sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem. In my experience the node clearance was indeed difficul in terms of the physio and discomfort. It’s important to persevere with the physio as this really helps and the discomfort does ease. It must be a very sensitive area. I hope you feel better soon. I think this part just does take its time.
