Hi wondered if anyone had experienced piercing pain in their breast but had no obvious signs like lumps, discharge etc., I had pain a few months ago and saw my GP who examined my breasts and said not to worry but the pain has got worse and their are occasions when it really is sharp and makes me whince. I’m 42 and am worried but don’t want to waste the GP’s time again. Any suggestions or help as I am quite concerned now. Many thanks

Hi Gibbsie
If I was you I would go back. It shouldnt be getting worse if theres nothing there, it could be an infection were you given any antibiotics. If these symptoms are unusual for you you should get them checked out again.

Hi
If you are in pain you should get it checked - don’t feel that you are wasting gp’s time -its best to go to stop the worry.

As the others have said go back and get it checked again. Since I joined this site (which for me was post dx and post op) I have read so many posts by ladies saying they don’t want to waste the doctor or clinic’s time, getting it checked again is not wasting anyone’s time. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get the all clear but get it checked anyway.
Hi Guys
Thanks v much for you comments I’m sitting here imagining the worst then I read all the discussions on this site and think how brave so many of you are and also just how helpful and understanding you are too. Thanks for taking the time to comment and yes I will make that appointment tomorrow and fingers crossed it’s just an infection. Again many thanks and good luck to those of you waiting. Hx
Definetly go back to GP and ask for antibiotics.
If no improvement, go back again and ask for a referral to the breast clinic.
Sorry if this sounds drastic, but you know your own breast and any lasting pain needs to be investigated.
I don’t want to worry you at all but not all BC presents as a lump, my didn’t. So make a fuss and hopefully it’s nothing nastier than an infection.
Good Luck,
Jackie
A big thanks for the advice just got back from the GP and she has found a mass??? Therefore I’m now on the wait for an urgent referral so now very scared and not quite knowing what to do with myself. Very tearful but so glad I took the advise and went back I’ll keep you posted. Why do these things always happen when your on your own, my husband’s in Austria mums miles away and best friend about to have a baby. The GP reckons I’ll get an appointment almost straight away any ideas? Is it worth going to see my mum in the meantime?? Sorry all these questions but it’s the wait I guess. Jackie are you able to tell me more of your story or send me a private message. I do hope your alright.
Hayley
Hi Hayley
You should get your appointment within 2 weeks. If you can go and see your mum you should have a few days, maybe wait for your date and then make arrangements. It will be nice to have someone to talk to and also help to pass the time. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Mabel
Thanks for sharing your bc with me and I’m so pleased your scan was clear and wish you the best of luck with your chemo.
My appointment is today having scan etc., at 3pm and then seeing the specialist at 4pm so at least I’ve got it sorted quite quickly with the help of Bupa. So fingers crossed we’ll know more later on. I’ll post my results.
Thanks again and good luck

Wow that was quick. Good luck will be thinking of you x

The benefits of having private medical insurance is a much shorter waiting period. I had a core biopsy early afternoon and my consultant rang me with the results that evening - my surgery was booked before I left his consulting room tho cos he already had the mammo and ultra sound results which left little doubt that I had BC.
Good luck and I hope you get the all clear.
Yippee got the all clear what a relief just got benign cysts which is pretty normal with the onset of the menopause apparently. Anyway, I was very happy and my consultant was really lovely said that I was right to be worried and I need to take some evening primrose to help with the pain.
A big thank you to all of you who were there for me and I will continue to read the discussions and wish all of those who have not been so lucky the best of luck…I will be thinking of you.
Thanks again and good luck.
Love Hayleyxxx

Hi Hayley
Glad to hear that you got the all clear. I am delighted that you are not another one starting on a journey of treatment.
Hi Hayley
Congrats on your results, glad you got the all clear it must belovely to be told its just your age. Mind you since getting my diagnosis I have been told I am young (44) haven’t been told that in years
Best Wishes

Since DX I have constantly been referred to as young - I was 40 last august - it’s great being referred to as young. A lady in the rads waiting room the other was amazing and told me I was ‘way too young’ to have to deal with cancer … then when she asked if I had family & I told her I had an 18 yr old son she lowered her voice to a whisper and asked if I was a gymslip mother … I laughed and told her no I was 22 when I had him … she did some mental arithmetic and she said ‘well dear you don’t look a day over 32’… I love that lady!!! I repaid the compliment by saying she certainly didn’t look her age - she told me she was 71.
