when my hair started falling out, my scalp ached and I know lots of other ladies said the same thing. I am getting those symptoms again now as it’s growing back although not as often and not as painful, but a similar feeling - is this normal?

Yes, pinprick feelings on scalp. Cold cap thing worked, kind of, so mangy skinhead crop is current hairstyle. But still feel pinprick stuff as hair grows in.
I found aloe vera gel very cool and soothing. Maybe worth a go?

I have a friend who is really into aloe vera, she swears by it for more or less everything. I might have a go - at the mo I just use the aqueous cream that I am using on my treated breast during rads as I hear the scalp can get dry whilst the hair is coming back. I have also just started using shampoo again, just a tiny bit of mild stuff. Sure I do not need it but it’s a ritual I have gone without for too long
I found vitamin e oil stopped the sore scalp when it fell out but that would make for a somewhat slimy hairdo.
I’ve got this lovely shampoo made by SOS which has been recommended to me for when it regrows… it’s got no nasty stuff in it and is also soothing so that might work for you. Mine’s not growing back yet so can’t say whether it works yet.
My hair has been growing now for 8 months and my scalp is still sore.

I was advised to use T Gel shampoo for sensitive scalp by Neutrogena and I used this on my bald scalp daily even when I had no hair and I followed it with Simple conditioner. Both seemed to be very good and to help with the soreness.

I too am washing my non hair so to speak and haven’t had the soreness since round 1, so hoping I wont with the regrowth. The stuff I use is also for very dry scalps that are sensitive. Is yours growing back yet. I appear to have the beginnings of platinum blonde curly baby hair growing but doubt it’ll make it to the end but then suprised any of it’s still here after 4 FEC (2 to go).

My hair is just beginning to grow back after my 4th Epi. Looks like a 5 o’clock shadow at mo 
I’ve had really clear skin all through chemo, but now am getting spots all over. I guess this is where some hair is getting stuck as it pushes through the skin ?? … anyone else having the same problem?

the steroids leaving my system made me spotty, if it’s the same thing it should clear in about a week.
Yes Lala-me too! It’s itches like crazy , although standing under the shower for a while is very soothing, although only temporarily. have started to use baby shampoo, so hope that helps.

The advice from my BCN was not to use baby shampoo as they add all sorts of chemicals to stop it stinging if it goes in the eyes.
My scalp looked a bit like i’d got cradle cap so I used a ketoconazole based shampoo. Certainly soothed my scalp (hair looked good too)
Don’t know whether thats any help in your case.

Thanks crispy…will swap over to simple (my scalp doesn’t look too bad, just spotty). To be honest, water alone feels wonderful-just doesn’t feel “right” or properly clean somehow!
