I had my second dose of FEC last wednesday and on sunday my head felt like it had little bites all over it. There are red spots all over which are very itcy and very sore. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and do you have a cure as it’s driving me insane??
I have about 5 red spots on my head and a few of them are sore if i touch them/brush them with the scarf. No idea what to do with them! Just washing and moisturising each day and ignoring the baby acne on my head!
Hi cant remember where I saw it but know others have had the same problem. I think (not sure) but some said AloeVera +/- aqurous cream, helped, others got stuff from GP.
Do know when my hair started to come out I got it cut really short as it ached like heck and if anyone or even I touched it it was almost like toothache so shaved it all off and it felt 100% better.
Will try to see where I saw this mentioned before to see what others found helpfull only other thing I can think of is go to the Macmillan website and ask the nurse.
All the best g
Sorry to hear you are suffering from red, itchy spots on your scalp following your chemotherapy last week. It is difficult to say what may have caused this; it is not a usual side effect from this combination of drugs. You do not say if you had scalp cooling during your treatment, which may have irritated your skin, although this is unlikely to cause the symptoms you describe. We would suggest that you contact your chemotherapy nurse or specialist team to let them know. They may wish to see you to assess what might have caused these spots, and give you advice or treatment to help with the symptoms.
Hi,
I get this problem each time my hair has been about to fall out with me it seems to happen because the folickles have died. It feels a bit like a sting and is itchy. Not sure whether yours is the same problem I have used aloe vera from a plant I keep in the kitchen.
Sorry I can’t be more help.
Love Debsxxx
Hi. I also had this prior to and after my second FEC. It coincided with the time at which my hair was coming away. My scalp felt painful and was tender to touch. It started in a particular area and gradually spread around, increasing in area. I found that the most tender spots were those in which my hair was currently falling out. Once the shedding had finished my scalp went back to its normal state (less the hair!)
Iv had my first lot of FEC about two weeks ago and I had my hair cut short but my head is sore! You know if you had your hair up to long and when you take it out it’s feel bruised? Has anyone else got that and if I was to shave it off would it help because it’s sore to touch!
Thanks I’ll try some cold cream! My hair falling out loads and my head hurts so I’m in two mind to if to shave it off!! Still got 5 treatment left but I’m worried x
Hi have just seen your messages- I am 14 days post my first chemo EC and now shedding a lot of hair. My scalp feels very tender to touch and itchy - assume just something to put up with? Do wonder if I should shave hair off ?
