I am in day in 11 of my second cycle of FEC my arm on the side where the chemo went in is a bit sore. It is like the vein is sore and the pain is creeping upwards instead of getting less, now near the inside of my elbow, and it hurts to straighten my arm. Anyone else experiencing this? Is this something I should worry about? I t d id not happen after first cycle, is it an accumalitive thing?
Hi wahini, fec can be harsh on your veins and leave your arm looking like jaws has had a bit of a chomp. Check with your unit to ensure all is ok and they will probably recommend you rub some ibuprofen on but check with your unit first. I also used one of those microwaveable heat pads on my arm too found it soothed it and helped loads. I did end up not being able to straighten my arm fully after fec but when you switch to t it is much softer on your veins ??can make your bum be a bit of a ???but your veins will recover. It’s a juggling act beautiful and you are doing fantastic ??? keep ???and focused you got this ???Shi xx
Wahini, if you can’t straighten your arm without pain go to A&E . I don’t mean to frighten you but that exactly what alerted me to the blood clots in my arm after chemo number 3. Best to be safe than so rry.
Wahini,
By now I hope you’ve seen your GP and everything is ok. I think clots can move but if you catch them early it’s fine. I just had 5 months of daily anticoagulant injections.
Oh that’s good then.Fingers crossed it gets better soon.
