spider veins and blue patches

last year I had pallitive radio theripy to the T4 to T7 area, due to spinal compression.
Recently I tried on a low back dress and found out that I have an area about 6 square inches - that at first glance looks like bruises.
It turns out its a side afect of the rads. Its very ugly. I had no idea that this could happen - what if it was on my face.
The discoloured patch also itches like crasy. Onc says nothing to worry about.
Does any one else have this and how can I get rid of it.

Hi Glowormdancer(love that name!),

I hope you are doing okay with your back (my Dad has spinal stenosis on T4/T5 and is waiting for an op) and are not in too much discomfort.

I have those spidery veins/blue bruise like areas on my left leg around and above the ankle area, my GP suggested they have been made worse through Chemo which frankly they seem to blame most things for!

But i am getting a similar thing happening under my left breast where i had Rads they finished last August but this didn’t start until a few months ago. I was told Rads do things like this to our skin and i have been using Canesten cream but to be honest it’s not doing a very good job! I will show the Breast Care Team when i go next month for my 6 month check, although i never hold out much hope of getting a definite answer as i always feel like i can’t say all the things i want to in case they get funny about it as some do!

Cheers, Michele x
