1am starting chemotherapy on May 11th ( fec) . I am 55 and live in Dorset . I have had a WLE for a grade 3 tumour and 1 positive lymph node.I did chemo 15 years ago for a primary tumour in the other breast but am still just as nervous doing it all again.
Hi ladies.I was diagnosed mid March with IDC grade 3 in places no node involvement. HR and HER2 positive. Had mx and snr on 1st April and Im currently waiting for start date for chemo having seen oncologist last week. Having FEC x 6 sessions but only 60/70% strength as don’t really need the chemo but have to have it for the Herceptin to be funded! No RT needed but onto Herceptin and Tamoxifen once chemo done and then reconstruction. Got big issues about the side effects of chemo, not the hair loss but the sickness and other delights that can happen. I have lots of long term health issues so am worried these will make side effects worse. Have been totally positive from outset and sure once chemo gets going I will work through the issues. Lots of luck to everyone and Im sure we can help each other through xxx
Diagnosed waaaaay back in January, Grade 3, 2cm, have had 2 surgeries and start EC-T on Thursday 7th. Weirdly, I can’t wait to get started, but am aware I might regret those words at some point!! But the sooner I start, the sooner I finish. Then radiotherapy and 400 yrs of tablets!!!
Just wishing you all the best for your chemo. I started on Thursday (30th April), so technically I just miss your group, but I thought I would pop in to say hi and offer supportive hugs all round!
Hi, I’m Ruth, I’m 58 and live in Oxfordshire. I was diagnosed with DCIS on the 31 December last year and had a WLE 20mm in January. Unfortunately they found a tiny 4mm grade 3 invasive cancer that turned out to be triple negative. I had a SNB in February and these came back clear. Following discussions with the oncologist he gave me a choice of whether or not to have chemo. As triple negative can be quite aggressive and isn’t responsive to tamoxifen I decided I should go for it so I’m having 6 cycles. I am going in for my PICC line to be fitted on Friday this week and my first chemo is on Saturday. I have always been heathly so I’m hoping this will stand me in good stead for what’s ahead. I look forward to sharing the ups and downs of the coming months with you. xxx
Hi girls, can I join you? I was originally on the April starters thread but have had chemo delayed because of an infection in my wound. Due to start 1st TC tomorrow. I am 62 and live in South Yorkshire and for me this is my second time around. I originally had left mastectomy and chemo in 2008 and thought this was all behind me but discovered it had returned as a new occurrence in my right breast in January. I’ve had right mastectomy followed by ANC as one node infected. This time it’s triple negative so the Tamoxifen I stopped in April last year wouldn’t have made a difference. Hoping you are all feeling well. I’m just eager to get this first chemo over and get on with life Jackie x
Has anyone thought about fasting before and after chemo to reduce side effects?. Obviously no good for you Cass.I was thinking of trying it but not sure I could go for that long without food! A lot of women in the U S seem to be doing it.
Finally heard pre chemo appt with nurse and then another appt with Oncologist on 19th and first chemo 21st. Seems ages away, back to playing the waiting game again I guess x
Just had some breakfast and my steroids ready, hopefully, for my first treatment this afternoon. Feeling very nervous, but I know once I’m there the girls will put me at ease. Will report back later. Xx
Hi I have also been recently diagnosed with BC and it has been a roller-coaster few weeks but started my first FEC-T treatment yesterday…5 to go! Felt quite nauseous yesterday but better today so hopefully the worst is over for this cycle. The antisickness tablets seem to have worked. Its good to know I am not alone with this new journey over the next few months.
Can i join you - I’m starting chemo on 28th May, (FEC-T) delayed a bit as have wound infection, had axillary clearance after spread to sentinel node 3 weeks ago and hysterectomy 5 days later as some dodgy looking cysts which turned out to be ok. Had oncology appt thurs, all a bit scarey but now antibiotics kicking in I’m beginning to feel human again apart from the raging **bleep**s, all ready for whats next!
Hi girls! Thanks for the well wishes. All was ok, I’m home now and have had an hour’s sleep already! I feel tired and sort of dopey and in a fog. I had a few minutes of thinking I was going to be sick earlier but I wasn’t and I’m ok. I can smell something odd though! Hope everyone else is doing ok? My baby is doing somersaults in my tummy so I know he’s alright xx
Morning girls, awake at 5.30 as hubby snoring like an engine bless him (although sometimes feel like a peell placed pillow might help!) went and sat up in the field at the back of our house watching the sun coming up, so peaceful and more relaxing then listening to puffing Billy!
Going to have a potter in the garden whilst I have some energy, still sore from the hysterectomy but boob side better apart from a bit of cording.
Thanks for all the helpful tips and reassurance.
Lucy

Hi all. I’m from the January thread but noticed the questions about Herceptin, so hope you don’t mind me popping in. I had FEC-T and was started on Herceptin with the T part after the 3 FEC treatments were finished. They don’t give Herceptin with the FEC part because the E (Epirubicin) part of FEC can affect heart function, and so can Herceptin. My onc said it’s ok to give Herceptin with T, but there seem to be lots of different opinions. Very best wishes to all of you xx
