Hi I’m interested in others experience of 1week (5sessions) of radiotherapy. I’ve had lumpectomy 7/7, 5 sessions of rads finished 9/9, hormone therapy starts in Dec. I was expecting tiredness to kick in couple weeks after but I’ve been floored from day 1 of rads & had to sleep for couple hrs after each session. Am still fatigued but can manage days out now but am then wiped out for couple days after. I’m now week 3 and getting sharp stabbing pains in my breast - is this common? For 5 days rads if you were hit with fatigue how many weeks did it last. I’ve read a study about the dosage we are getting 26gy (3 weeks get 40 Gy) so our daily dose is double.
Originally I thought 2 wks off work but am now looking at 4-6 following info from radiologist that tiredness can last that long. No skin probs yet, am using moo goo oncology pack (love the lip salve & the deodorant does work). Oh & also bad brain fog but that could be age (am 51). I’m not rushing back to work as I’m a payroll manager & can’t remember conversations from 5 mins ago let alone juggle numbers & spreadsheets x
Hi,
I had 5 sessions of RT therapy which ended on 1st August. It followed a lumpectomy & chemotherapy. Whilst my fatigue has been mild, I have been getting the stabbing pain, especially if l’ve done a lot of small repetitive movements, such as ironing. I saw my consultant a couple of weeks ago and I mentioned it. He examined me and said it was most likely to be a bit of inflammation. I find a warm bath helps to stop it. I hope your symptoms improve soon.
