hi ladies i have been a member on herefor a while now, but i have not seen any ladies on here with ibc and diabetic,is there anybody on here with the same that i could talk to.
Hi lollypop59 - I have liver & bone mets (since 2003) and Type II diabetes - stupidly ignored the diabetes for a while, as I thought the BC would get me first and wanted to eat chocolate (!), but now on tablets for control, incl. metformin, which - ironically - is being trialled as a prophylactic treatment for BC, of all things.
I’ve been taking the tablet chemo Xeloda (capecitabine), a tablet bisphosphonate for my bones (ibandronic acid) and an aromatase inhibitor as my BC is ER++ (exemestane) for many years, and have been relatively stable for some time. I did manage to miss the tell-tale signs of worsening diabetes, as I put everything down to the chemo side effects, so am now having problems with retinopathy, hypertension, kidney function and peripheral neuropathy (that is not helped by the hand/foot syndrome side effects of capecitabine!). Now, absolutely evangelical about maintaining good diabetic control!
What treatments are you on, and are they impacting on your diabetes? Hope all is going well for you!

Hi Lorraine
Hope the taxol + herceptin combo work well for you, and that there’s no impact or clash on or from your diabetes. Do keep posting here, so we can see how you’re getting on!

Hi,
I had mixed ductal and lobular cancer with 1 lymph note involved and was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes at the same time in December last year.
I am starting to get the hang of the new diet although it has been hard with the Rads as I completely lost my appetite but knew I had to eat.
I would love to keep in touch with anyone else with DM as well as BC,
Lynda
