Standing outside the dark, dark woods.

Poor shar, you’re really finding things hard today.

Firstly, the injections should help to keep things on track so that you’re able to stick to the 3-weekly schedule. I don’t get the blood tests the week before so the first I’ll know about FEC2 being postponed will be the day I’m supposed to be there for it.

Secondly, having a sleep when you’re tired is probably the best thing you can do for yourself, along with the walks with the dog. We have to take things easy when we need to.

I’m sure if you look closely you’ll see the lights on at the JM, or follow the cacophony that is Twisted Nipple rehersals, and you’ll soon come across the rest of us. There will be a large glass of fruit juice waiting at the bar for you and lots of virtual hugs. Come on in and find the cozy corner, snuggle up under a very thick duvet, sip your wine, nibble some Green & Blacks ginger chocolate and take a big deep breath.

Sarah, just add an arbour smothered in jasmine, or one of those thatched hut sunshades.

Cheryl

You may find, Shar, that the tiredness and other symptoms seem to come out of the blue. But you really must rest when you are tired and not try to push on. Your body is trying to repair itself.

The hair thing is weird and hits people differently, but an itchy/ tingly/ prickly feeling does seem to go with or before periods of hair loss. I used the kind of electric razor meant for legs and underarms when my hair got too patchy and that worked reasonably well getting me down to a suede head. My scalp was too tender to try for a skin head. I had to go over it a couple of times to get it reasonably even.

I still have some fuzz, it just keeps getting thinner and thinner along with body hair, eyebrows and so on.

Cheryl

Shar & CM I couldn’t manage to shave mine right off, stuck to the number 2,when I got the itchy feeling and gave it a good rub dd complained that I looked like I had fleas leaping off it freaked her out, CM I find the wig hot and sticky but clicked on for a sale at Tie Rack and bought a couple of thin cotton pashminas which are lovely to wear twist the ends round the top for a turban style to and height but cool on top ( hot flushes cause me trouble).
If we ca work out that exchange service for WBC had Neulasta after Tax1 as also done the 3 day admission for sepsis prev with WBC’s & Neut’s hitting rock bottom. Pre Tax 2 yesterday WBC 12 NEUTs 11 so enough to share with 2 others!!! But would like a few little red ones back as they’re down below 10 and I’m still breathless and dizzy. We must be able to swap somehow.
Oh by the way I have 2 more Neulastas for tomorrow and after Tax3, maybe a milking machine? So could be a source, or maybe it’s the new perfume from LGFB attracting them.
I’m feeling better about the weight gain as have had some compliments re new clothes. Shar things will come together, keep posting, rest when you need to, try different looks with no hair thing, you will find one you can live with for as long as it takes.
Hugs and best wishes to all, I’m out for lunch with the girls today before steroids finish and energy and test buds crash, gott make the best of the good days!!!
Pat

Morning Campers,

CM - rotflmao I really can picture you doing that with your hair/head!

What is it with us and laptops?? Mine has decided to join in, battery died and work won’t replace the power supply so I’ve gaffer taped it back together!

The guinea-pig has had a few outings this end, but usually ends up looking very drunk after I’ve forgotten and scratched my head! I’ve probably terrified several of my former pupils by now with it!

021210 - hope you’re feeling better today and FEC3 gremlins are behaving!

Silvershah - Hope today goes ok for you and wbc is starting to behave!

THe sun is shining through the trees and I’m hopefully going out to lunch, will catch up with you all later - go get some rays but don’t forget the sunstuff, I nearly got crisped yesterday after 10 mins!

love & hugs
xxHxx
PS Willing to trade some red for white with some one - I’m 14.5 on that one!!!???!!!

Morning all!
Glad to see you are here Cheryl and the laryngitis hasn’t carried you off to the hospital tent.

Silvershar, you need a good sleep today. I could sleep anywhere on chemo and often do! Hospitals are the hottest places to be if your temp is high. Mine was all over the place on FEC 1 but settled down to a good pattern after. I found when my wbc’s were probably lowest it would hover around 37.2/4 and I used to leave my hospital bag by the front door. I think the anxiety makes me worse. I always had the thermometer hanging out my mouth but I don’t take temp so often now.

Helen, isn’t gaffa tape great! Hopes it works for a while. I had to recently replace my laptop. There was a pungent burning smell and then no sign of life. we tried another battery/ lead but no joy.

Hope those sore heads settle down. I remember trying to get a comfy position to lie down after my hair went. The prickly feeling didn’t last long and now I am a stubble free smoothie. There is just a hint of soft white downy stuff and one long dark hair which intrigues me so I’ve left it alone lol.

Slip slap slop on that suncream! this could be our last day of sunshine. x

The nurse confirmed that as long as my temp isn’t at or pushing 38 and I don’t feel ill I can go on with normal allergy treatments. At least it’s less painful today.

I’ve progressed to having nurses who are learning to flush PICCs practise on me.

Cheryl

Stuck in the swamps now this morning waiting for a call which will almost certainly confirm a delay to chemo 2 due to the shingles…where is that stepping stone? Could do with stamping on someone and NE will do as well as anyone as I am definately not feeling ready to inspire anyone right now!

PW, if you’re in the absolute depths of the swamp you should be able to spot NE’s head as I did choose the mankiest part to plant him in. It’ll be a bit black and blue by now and a little singed fom all Cheryl’s thumping and my flamethrower practice but I’m sure there’s enough of him left for a good stamping.

Go and vent your feelings!

Hi Ho Hi Ho!
Off for chemo I go!
I just can tell
I won’t feel well
but it won’t last long I know! (wishful thinking - send in the fairies)

Yes found him Alto! Bit slippery from the singeing etc, but I’m having a good old stamp now that I know that my next session will not be before 4th - the day before my birthday! Just hoping I will be able to make it to the facial I have booked for a birthday treat…

Whoever sent the wbc fairy to me while i was sleeping last night THANKYOU!!! Trogged the 30 miles to Plymouth for blood test this morning at 9am, then back to Tavistock and waited around for results… all good… Fec 4 all done… off to lie down with this weeks copy of Heat magazine xxxx

So pleased for you SarahBeara,
At least someone found those pesky wbcs!! Enjoy ‘Heat’. There is nothing better than a good deep profound intellectual read when needing a lie down!!

I, personally am lying down, thinking about how I am going to spend all those millions you are going to share with us when the numbers come in!!

Wandyx

Glad to hear it & hope the side effects gremlin is safely penned up. Enjoy the rest while you can.

Cheryl

Hello cheryl,

How’re you after the practicing PICC line nurses have had a go??!

Its Friday, are we all up for a sharpener or two in the JM??!

Wandyx

Hi Wandy - I’m definately up for a session in the JM tonight as I can’t get out to the local!!

I know PW. Poor old you! I saw you had shingles and missed out on the Bristol lunch!

Hope you’re not feeling too bad at the moment, a bit of the falling down stuff will probably be just the ticket! I’m sure we won’t be the only ones either!

Wandyx

I’ll be sitting quietly in the corner with my laryngitis. Yes, I’ll have some more of that fizzy white pain reliever, thank you.

Cheryl

Woohoo SB - excellent news! The drinks are on you tonight then I take it?

How are you today Jane?
