Standing outside the dark, dark woods.

Ouch Ninja that sounds painful. Call the BCN and see if they can help.
I am due to have the last drain out today and then I can go home wooooooooo. Having said that I have just sneezed and wow that hurts the stomach wound! I am quite nervous about having the drain out as it keeps catching and is very painful. But then I will be drain free.
Hugs to all those facing surgery, recovering from surgery or suffering from chemo SEs.

Ninja that needs draining. Are you still in hospital or at home. If at homr

Ninja that needs draining. Are you still in hospital or at home. If at home ring the ward and get one of the on call surgical team to fo it for you. If you have a good BCN she might have given you her phone number and will come and do it for you( not many do but all the girls in the oxford region did home visits). Your gp might do it butthat is unusual. Howerevr if yuo can talk him or her in to taking enough away to relieve the pressure until monday fantastic problem solved.

Seromas are a pain in the…some go on for years.the body will absorb them in time but that is no pronlem only if it is not uncomfortsble.

So hlad you are bavk on your well reserved bench again.

Jo can you get a maternity stomavh girdle from Asda i think they are less than ten pounds. It might help.

Well last night slept like a baby wrapped in my nest even with steroids a 5 pm…no it wasn’t the gin just two zopicone. Lovely. Plus 30mg Amitriptyline for nerve end pain due yo deep serma!!!

Have a lovely day aii - second day post taxing T cooked cheese omelette bacon mushrooms and tomatoes on breakfast, so the steroids are getting their own back for me not staying awake to play in the wood ,benchland chapel and bar. Went for cake quickly at four! I am still hungry but that is nothing new but no psin.!!!'n
Have side effect free day all.

Sorry all iI use an ipad and don’t spell check. The chemo has and my eyesight also make for readers having to guess what i meant…still it kerps you ocvupief…see what i mean!!!’
Cackled

Cackles -or Cackled as you signed off - i love the ‘no spell check’ effect! its like reading messages from the policeman in 'Allo 'Allo! A nid’s as good as a wonk!

Ninja I had a seroma for about 2 months after my surgery. i had it drained regularly but tried to leave a longer time between each. The last time i went they wouldnt do it, saying that it had shrunk enough for the body to absorb. i was peed off but they were right. i have heard that some have steroids injected in the spot to stop it.

Jo - all sounds well. good.

Now then, whoever it is, you need to cough up. i wont be cross, i just want you to come clean. you know what im talking about.

  • Who’s got my hair??
i have hair, lots actually, but its not mine. mine has a slight wave (which can be curled or straightened) and is a brown. The hair thats turned up is …mega, mega curly. Think a cross between a sheep and Leo Sayer. This isnt too bad at the mo’ BUT i fear at any point i will look like a microphone. SO - if you have my hair i would like it back. you can leave it behind the bar at the JM, i dont need to know who you are. Thanking you in anticipation.
    xx

I have a stomach binder thingy on but sneezing well that’s just another level altogether!
SCACO I don’t have your hair but do seem to have this uncontrollable fluff on my head, I can’t do anything to make it behave itself so I have given up trying now and it just sticks out at all angles! So I fear someone has made off with my hair too, ladies we have a hair thief in the woods. I wonder if they can be found running with the feral eyebrows and lashes through the undergrowth?

So whose hair have I got then? I didn’t have white fluff that’s just starting to turn grey, it was dark blonde hair before, no grey.

My prob re hospital/seroma is that we’ve moved into the next county now. I do have a mobby number for the BCN though…

Hi

Can I pitch a little tent outside the wood for now because I have a feeling I am going to need it soon. In a few weeks I will probably have to step a foot in and then the other one behind it, very scared, very unsure, will somebody show me the way pls?

Certainly will. You’ll find the path well trodden, and the natives are vary friendly. Here you can pitch your tent ( cause none of us plan permanent residence!). You will find support and laughter - often slightly hysterical it has to be said. We blast all the chemo gremlins for each other, pass round sleep fairies and fish for newts. Buggerit, one of the dogs is good at that. Soddit, my dog, is good for nothing, except giving love and sitting on laps. The pub is the JM and there’s a lagoon. Someone with a real computer can tell you more, my phones fed up, but welcome!

Hi

Thanks jane, see you outside the wood in a few weeks.

Since we’re on the topic, I’d like to know who has taken away PART of my straight hair and given me patches of curly hair in its place. And why am I twice as grey as I was just a year ago? I keep trying to convince myself that the darker part of the new growth will lighten and warm in colour as it grows out, but I fear that the overall effect will only be greyer now.

Cheryl

Welcome Applestreet

Pitch your tent wherever you like. If you look down the field to the edge of The Woods you’ll see a flag-pole (the 2-fingered salute, the camp’s flag), this marks the start of the way through the Woods. It’s well worn and leads to the first campfire, which is always roaring away to welcome all. Before you set off you might want to collect your flame thrower from the supplies tent, this is good to use against unwanted Gremlins that can creep up and whisper bitterness in your ear. There are good fairies to help you, although many if us tend to shun PositiveThinking as she has a habit of legging it just when you need her.

Although it’s pants that you’re here it’s good that you’ve found us, we’ll keep you company and light the way. Xx

WOW,now I know why wood fantasia is so healing, reading last dozen posts, makes me realise how creative and articulate you all are, even under duress,Cackles your post was magic and the hair detectives are so" pink panther"All i need now is a link to a funny video to get my laughter muscles working again big time
(((HUGS)))MAVIS

Hi

Many thanks, have op first and then results, but am pitching tent in readiness for whatever comes next. You ladies are all fantastic and are gladly needed by terrified newbies such as myself. Nice to feel I can talk as much as I want on here, and all the positive vibes really light up the gloom. M

I’m home wooooooohooooooooooooo!
So pleased to be home minus drains, still very sore under my arm and across my tummy but getting there.
Welcome to all new woodies, sorry you’ve had to join us but you’ve come to the right place, this thread has kept me sane over the last six months. Xx

Link to maybe not a funny video - but certainly makes me smile every time I watch it.

It’s the bald headed blues…enjoy.

SeromaWatch (like SpringWatch but with fewer lambs)

I rang BCN on her mobile. She said that it’s OK that the seroma is warm to the touch but that I should ring Stalagluft 2 and go in if it gets red, bright pink, or I have symptoms of a fever e.g. shivering.

Otherwise they’ll look at it on Monday and she said that surgeon-dude may drain some if he thinks fit.

<waves to=“” everyone=“”></waves>

Ninja-Make sure you keep an eye on it and go back to Stalagluft 2 if it gets too tight.
Super trooper - like the hair video how are you tonight, you sound upbeat as usual.
Staycalmandcarryon- I certainly have no hair …not even my own. If you find mine during your search there will be a reward to guess what colour it will be on return to me!
Mavis when is your next poison? Hopefully I can outdo the steroids again tonight if not see you in the bar. Great Crested Neut fishing in my well tonight- I might need them.
Jo hope the sneezes stay away. Fantastic to hear you are home. DO NOT overdo things. I made that mistake and got oedema of the lower chest.
Ducky have you lost your way to the Lagoon
Applestreet - I too am new to the paths through the wood as is Mavis . We stalked them for months before deciding whether they were mad, bad, or good for us. Still don’t know. We came out of hiding and have pitched tents and made nests. I have a well for wishing and fishing. Mavis even brought a chapel with candles.
Welcome To the wild wild wood.
Might have spellcheck problems tonight STEROIDS ugh. Keep the bar open. Mine’s a spritzer I need fluid this week. No problems day 2 taxing
But I am sooooo hungry
Gentle hugs
Cackles

SCACO - sorry, I suspect I’ve got at least some of your hair. You’ve certainly got mine!

Mine used to be dark brown and very curly and now it’s sort of mousy brown with colourless wispy bits, but what makes me suspect it’s yours is that it’s only got a bit of a wave to it, apart from some highly odd frizzy bits on the back of my neck. Very peculiar…

I really enjoyed that. I like the line ‘I didn’t battle cancer, cancer battled me’.
